Issues setting up new TV with existing AV Amp
Discussion
Morning all,
I'm trying to set up my new TV (Philips 55OLED804) and existing amp (Yamaha RXV677), along with an Xbox One and BT Youview 4K box.
I can get the Youview and Xbox pictures to pass through to the TV with no difficulty, but i can't send sound back the other way (ie, output sound through the home cinema system) when I'm watching stuff on the actual TV. In the sound settings on the TV, when i try to tell it to use the AV system speakers, it tells me it can't connect, and reverts to the TV speakers.
If it makes any difference, I'm using this hdmi cable.
All help gratefully received!

I used to have that Yamaha amp - good piece of kit for the price.
Also, the ARC (2 way audio via a single HDMI cable) worked faultlessly between the RX-V677 and the Samsung TV I had then. Sadly, that's not the same for the Panasonic TV and Pioneer amp I now have, but that's another story..
I think all of the HDMI outputs on your new TV support ARC so it shouldn't matter which one you use to connect back to your amp.
If the TV audio is not playing via the amp, the first step would be to check that ARC is enabled and configured correctly on both devices.

Thanks both.
As SS2 said, all the HDMI ports on the TV are ARC enabled, and the Amp has a dedicated, ARC-enabled "TV Out" port too, so the physical connection wasn't the issue.
I've just taken a quick tea break, though, and having delved in to the sound menus on the Amp, I was able to find a setting which, having been switched from 'Off' to 'On', has resolved the issue.
So obscure was this setting, however, that even just 20 minutes later I can't for the life of me remember what it was called!
