My Cambridge Audio TVB2 died last night. It had been having issues connecting to the sub woofer for a couple of days and now the bar won't turn on.

I am looking for a replacement with a budget of £300ish. I could buy the updated CA TVB2 or something else. Richer Sounds recommend the Denon DHTS316 as it sounds good, is easy to set up and super reliable. I also asked about the Yamaha YAS207 but they seem to be less reliable and sometimes a problem to get hooked up and working.

I only use it to get better sound from the TV so connectivity with other devices isn't an issue for me.

I'm inclined to go with their recommendation but before I do does anyone have another brand/model to recommend or suggest?

Thanks,

Dicky

I tried to buy one of these but none in stock at my local Richer Sounds store and on back order with no confirmed date of delivery.

Ordered and paid for one but they rang me after a couple of weeks as still no confirmed date. Recommendation was the Polk Signa S2 black, which is remarkably similar with apparently just a slightly less good sub. Bought that instead and very happy with it.

Thanks for that. I haven't heard or Polk but I'll have a look in the store.

Sonos Beam? I've got one and been really pleased with it.

I was looking last year for a setup to go with the new tv I bought, LG Oled. I was toying with going the whole hog and getting an amp and some Kef speakers but in the end talked myself out of it, in consideration of the neighbours.

I still wanted a bit of something and the Yas 207 had good reviews and was a decent price so I took the plunge. A year on and its been faultless, easy to install and setup and gives what I think is a pretty decent sound for the money, really adds to the enjoyment when watching a decent film.

+1 on Sonos beam.

Excellent sound quality, however is better for music than for TV / movies. I find it a tad bass heavy for general tele.
But what you can do with it via app, stream music and alexa voice control etc makes it great value for money.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments.

For some reason the newer Cambridge Audio TVB2 has dropped in price by £100 overnight at Richer Sounds so I bought that (and a 6 year guarantee in case this one dies) for £220.

I've got a Sonos beam for our bedroom TV and it's great, can pair additional IKEA or Sonos speakers for surround sound if desired.

BUT search the recent announcements and do not expect the kit to be supported longer term. I bought my kit thinking that they have supported everything they have released, but no more! Still good stuff but they do charge a premium over the competition.

I thought it was just the older stuff, pre 2015 and bridges / amps etc.

Beam and new products etc should be fine. Sonos make smart speakers so it's like with any smartphone, the hardware eventually won't be able cope with newer software releases and requirements.
So yes factor this in when purchasing, as eventually you may lose support but will remain functional.

I agree, love our beam!
