Sky or similar for mum in shut down
Discussion
Hi All,
Hope everyone is muddling through.
My mum isn’t in self isolation but I’ve told her she needs to stay home for the time being whilst hopefully this blows over.
Unfortunately she’s a social butterfly and being stuck inside is not great, especially when she has a crap TV set up with just the normal channels and no method to record.
Initially I thought Sky, but it’s 3 weeks for installation. BT appears only to be for those with BT broadband.
What I’m looking for ideally is...
Sky entertainment
Sky cinema
Box sets to downloads
Ability to record / series link
Not have to wait for a man to come and sort out installation.
Anything out there that I can order for delivery.l?

As above , if she has WiFi a firestick is the answer ! You can get absolutely everything on one but you need at least 15mbs broadband
I’ve used Netflix and prime at 2 locations recently with less than 5mbps, it’s fine. In fact tonight we both were streaming on less than 5mbps, with no issues. Also, if you sign up with Sky, you get SkyGo straight away, no need to wait for the install. Our install is next week, but I imagine it’ll get cancelled.

You can add now tv , just needs sideloading and takes about a minute , google it for simple instructions. There is of course other things you can add to a firestick much better than now tv , but not very legit
I found a way of doing it via a YouTube link, but once it was done it wouldn’t navigate fully. Might be okay if your tech minded but for an older mum I’d steer clear as an ideal solution.I find a roku express to be really useful.
It has Netflix, amazon prime, now tv, you tube, Spotify, BBC news, BBC iplayer, ITV Hub, channel 4, my 5 etc.. Loads of other channels/streaming apps too.
No sideloading required.
