Panasonic Vieracast / CEC not working?
Discussion
I am trying to get my TV to turn on / off with the HDMi from my Sony AV Receiver.
Everything plugs into my receiver, single HDMi from receiver to HDMI - I never want to touch my TV remote.
Due to receiver & Harmony Hub in another room, my Logitech harmony hub cannot 'beam' to my TV, hence wanting the TV to come on/off with the HDMi signal.
I am sure this is feasible & should work via CEC, but for some reason with the HDMi auto power on/off settings within the TV menu it doesn't seem to work.
Can anyone hazard a vague idea as to why & how I can resolve?
Sony DG810 is about 10 years old, but the Panasonic was a good spec on a few years old.
Many thanks,
Andrew

Obvious ones first - has HDMI control been enabled on both devices ? Tried another HDMI cable and / or a different HDMI input on the TV ?
I've currently got a Panasonic TV (with Pioneer AVR) and, whilst basic HDMI on-off and input switching works fine, the ARC has been a non-starter from Day 1.
Never had CEC / ARC issues with any previous set ups - it only started when the Panasonic TV was introduced. I hope your problem is not symptomatic of an incompatibility issue between Viera Link and Bravia Sync.

Ah, so there's a couple of HDMI > Ethernet converters in play ? They may well be having an influence.
It'll be a bit of a ball-ache, but can you take the receiver to the TV (or vice versa) ?
Doing so would at least enable you to check CEC functionality using an HDMI cable. If nothing else, it would narrow the search for what's causing the issue.

First off, what type of Harmony Remote do you have? Some of them have IR built into the handset as well as the hub, it is just a case of telling it where to send the IR signal from.
The second is I have always had issues with CEC talking to different brands, because although it is a 'standard' it is rather loose and 'open to interpretation'
I had it once where a sky box did an update while client was on holiday and when he walked in through the door all 6 TV's were on, blasting out the Sky Barker Channel!! Freaked him out!! As the Sky Box rebooted, all the tv's picked up on the Sky box waking and turned themselves on too! through a HDMI/HDBT Matrix - CEC got disabled everywhere since then.
AS has been said, chack the panasonic and the sony both has thier flavour of CEC turned on, also check the source is on too. Then check that the Sony AVR doesnt have a 'Video Pass-Through' setting that allows the original source to be displayed on the screen even when the AVR is off, in this case the TV will not be sent an Source-Off CEC command.
Also check the order you are turning things off within the Harmony instructions. It may well be that being an AVR it can't or doesnt send CEC commands because of the nature of it passing info through. So if it turns off first, or before the source device, the CEC 'OFF' command from the source wont make it to the TV. You may have to play with that to see if the it works if you leave the Sony AVR on. If so, swap your harmony orders around and may be add in a few delays to get the signal through.

Many thanks for the replies.
Yes CEC/Bravia Sync / Viera whatever all seem to be turned on. I will check the Harmony Remote order and see if that could be chucking up an issue.
In answer to Vex, yes I have the Harmony Ultimate with the IR remote in the handset, this does work if the remote is pointing at the TV and is/was my usual setup. This worked entirely adequately.
With so much time off though, I am lusting over a setup where the IR control for the TV still comes from the hub under the stairs, so the Remote can be left in its cradle and I can remotely turn on *everything* via Alexa/Mobile...for when I am in the garden etc and fancy some music through the lounge setup.
Because of the remote (and it's IR control) in the cradle, I can do this...but the TV obviously doesn't turn on.
I am therefore trying to find a way of routing the IR signal from the Hub under the stairs.
So far I have tried:
1) HDMI-Over-CAT6 built in IR transfer routine, I used a male-male jack form the Hub's outlet into the HDMI-over-CAT6....then at the TV end took a IR blaster and blu-tacked it to the front of the TV.
This ''looks'' like it should work - as the red lights within the blaster flash on command from the remote...so the signal is getting there... just the TV refuses to respond to it, despite some careful placement & many many attempts.
2) A long 3.5mm extension lead (20m, though also tried a 10m one) again from the Hub outlet to the TV end and into a IR blaster...again as above, the blaster flashes on commands...but the TV fails to respond.
3) An IR receiver sat pointing at the IR blaster that controls everything under the stairs, then the IR receiver plugged into the HDMI-over-CAT6 and again to a blaster near the TV. This didn't work either.
4) My default ''Logitech remote IR pointing at the TV'' - which of course works fine
5) The CEC option I started this thread on.
So far...no luck!
I would welcome any suggestions?
