Has anyone run Disney + successfully through a PS4 without the image freezing and all the stuttering? I Googled it and while there's lots of noise about it, I've not found a suitable solution. It's just not useable as every few minutes the picture freezes, the sound carries on and then rolls back to where it was when the problem started.

I have the Disney + app on the TV (LG OLED) and it works fine. It also works fine on the TV upstairs and on the laptop.

The reason for running it on the PS4 when there are other options are available is because I'm using HDMI over CAT6 which at present doesn't allow for the use of ARC (until I get round to buying some new units) so the TV won't relay back to the AV Receiver. The PS4 is of course plugged in to the AV Receiver so it sends the sound to my cinema setup. I refuse to watch any Marvel film without big speakers and a BK Monolith rumbling away hence why I'm looking tor a fix!

Bandwidth is fine, I can run various 4k Signals, Netflix etc running at the same time and it works fine, its only when you run the Disney App on a PS4. I only downloaded the app in the last few days so would assume I've got the most up to date version with any bugs removed.

Any idea?

Thanks

Have you tried running it on with out the PS4 temporarily? I run Disney+ through fire TVs and I have seen issues on release night of some movies. I put this down to the Disney servers because on everything else it is fine.

Having said that, when Disney+ was released here in the US they had issues with everything and it took a while for the platform to be stable.

If counts for anything, my friend is a developer at Disney+ and I have given him some friendly crap;

Including;

“You made Mickey sad” and “What’s it like to work for a slave driving mouse?”

He liked “what’s it like at Disney+ when the servers go down? Do they release the hound?”

If you have any you want me to pass on feel free to post them here.

Sorry for the slow response, working from home seems to mean I'm working longer days at the moment....this isn't right!! smile

Yes, as per my original message, it works absolutely fine on all other devices on the network, it's only when you use the app on the PS4 that it won't work properly. I've done enough testing to be comfortable it's the App/PS4 combo that causes the issue and none of the other tech in the mix. I can literally switch between devices and it just goes all crappy when the App on the PS4 runs.

Netflix and Amazon both run 4k content fine wirelessly or over the wired network. The Disney App is the same until I run the App on the PS4 so am certain its not the Disney Service itself as it seems localised to the PS4.

I'll dig out a picture of a mouse caught in a mousetrap to send over to your friend smile

From a quick search it appears many people have the same problem and it does not matter which region you are in. One suggested changing the TV resolution and/or the format from auto to fixed widescreen helped. I am not convinced though.

I have a PS4 and do not use any of the smart features. My Fire TV is plugged straight into the receiver and I use my Harmony remote to control everything

Thank you. I'll try fixing the format and see if it makes any difference. I know the PS4 can do some weird things for video throughput so will have a poke about and see if there's any options on the PS4 which could be throwing a spanner in the works.

This problem will go away when I replace the CAT6/HDMI modules for ones that will send audio back down the pipe from the TV to the Amp so I can get Netflix/Amazon/Disney running on the TV but making noise through the amp. It is a £500 problem for the right kit though frown

Thanks again for your help!
