I think Sony and LG are due to launch sets this year, does anyone know when and the expected launch prices? Obviously release could well be pushed back due to current situation.

Interested to know whether to wait for one of them or go for the Sony 49xg9005 which is now available for about £750, and about the best LCD at that size. I cannot go up to 55" due to the location so limited to no bigger than 50"

I had that problem and went for a 49" 8 series Samsung UHD certified set. I think in the real world that's plenty for normal viewing.

I saw a post today on avforums that indicates a release date of 11th May and a price of £1,500 for the 48" LG model.

I guess it will be at least 6-8 months before that gets near to £1k.

One concern I have on OLED is that it may not be the right choice if it gets direct sunlight. The position it will be in will get some direct light, is that only an issue if it is on or could it also get damaged while off?

QLED works so well in bright rooms. OLED requires a dark room to excel

We have a Sony OLED with light coming at it from various angles during the day and it's superb.

It does look even better when the room's dark, but it's an incredible set (needed to be as my old Pioneer plasma (436) is what it replaced an that was something else (now doing loft room duty).

If there is too much light coming in the room, I pull the curtains. Not overly worried for daytime TV and the bonkers viewing angle on OLED means I can casually watch when around the home in the day even from the other room.
