With being stuck at home on lockdown i'm seriously debating treating myself to a new TV and have wanted the LG Oled C9 55" for a while now as it seems to fit the bill nicely and gets very good reviews.

But.....the CX is due to come out very soon (albeit it will be about £500 more than the C9) and I'm wondering whether to just wait for that. I can't see it being a massive step up from the C9 though but please correct me if my assumption is not correct? A faster processor and maybe a slightly better picture quality but who knows - we won't know how good it is until it's released.

And if I wait for the CX, do you think the C9 prices will come down some more?

Hmm......decisions decisions!

Avforums podcast today was discussing this and iirc, consensus seemed to get the c9 if you see a good price as the underlying tech seems to be plateauing.

I was in the same boat. I have just bought a new Panasonic OLED. I was waiting for a new 2020 model to arrive, was hoping prices of 2019 models may come down, would a new model be better? In the end I just went for it as I could be waiting months. I'm very pleased, beautiful TV , great picture. I'd say go for it.

Very pleased with the new Panny, I did look at the C9 as it was around the same price, went for the panny as I've had a Plasma for 10 years and it's been good as gold. Not a big fan of the LG menu and epeg.

Just looked at the price of them, looking good. Reviews of the CX are out in a few places (not read them). What would be the step up between the two? If they all do Dolby Vision/Atmos now, HDR10, HLG (HDR10+ is a Samsung thing I think, not sure that is needed?) and HDMI2.1 hardware (future proof rather than useful). All those would tick the boxes for me.
