I'm working through the electrics for my loft conversion and looking at how to install my projector.

I want to be able to remove the Projector to leave something fairly minimal on the ceiling and I want to be able to connect power and HDMI up discretely.

So I don't want a double socket on my ceiling etc. Having not done this before, I don't know what the options are - how is this normally done?

How deep is your ceiling void? Could you install into that or are you looking for a direct mount on the ceiling?

I'm currently in the process of installing the av gear in our new living room. I used a Screen Int SI30 projector lift to hide the Optoma projector (150mm deep). It comes with threaded bar so that you can attach a panel so that when the projector is raised the ceiling is flush. Sockets etc. can be hidden up in the void too.

Still to fit the lower panel but hopefully this gives you an idea:

How much was this if you don't mind me asking? And what depth ceiling void do you have to accomodate it?

I ask as I have an Optoma UHD51 and I'm looking to do something similar in my ceiling if I can to hide it away when not in use.

The projector lift can fit in a minimum depth of 13cm (although your projector would need to be less than that too!). I have the Optoma UHD52ALV and it works well with the lift.
I bought this from Cherrywood AV Ltd. for just over £500: https://www.cherrywood-av.co.uk/screen-internation...

Hope this helps!

One thing to watch with the Optoma projectors - and I've been caught with this - is they have a limited lens/image shift (it isnt keystone anymore!) the projected image can be shifted up and down, from the perpendicular to the projector by a persentage of the image height on the screen.

The Optoma is a little limited in its movement, so you just need to plan a little more than the JVC UH1 or others.

Also, Paul, are you limited to putting it on the ceiling? Could you put is about 50cm away from the projected wall??

Some of the ultra short throw projectors are brilliant, I have installed one of Optoma's 4K ones and it was stunning. But obviously dependant on budget.

Thanks, I don't have £500 for a lifty thing, even the £140 eBay ones are a bit of a stretch, but irrelevant as I don't have the ceiling height to recess the projector - It's hanging off a glulam beam in the ridge of a loft conversion, so there isn't the width at the height it would need to lift to. The flat bit of the ceiling is determined by the height of the flat bits at two other ridge beams, so I can't create the space.

I already have the projector, so it's really a question of how to install it neatly without wires all over the place and sockets on the ceiling. I'm leaning towards fixing the projector mount directly to the glulam, using trunking to run a kettle lead back to a socket at the back of a cupboard and then leaving a small access hatch around the projector mount that'll then give access to the cables.

Are there mounts that have a ceiling flush cover, for a suspended ceiling arrangement and the wiring run through the middle of the mount? Would be neat if I could quickly remove the mount and clip a cover plate over at the ceiling if I wanted to put the projector away.
