Outdoor projector set up on a budget

So having just bought some nice patio furniture I quite fancied having a small outdoor cinema, low budget, 400 all in, it’s on a balcony so max width is 11ft with around 15ft throw space
I’m not looking for anything high def, it will be older films shown, speaker budget on top of the 400, again something basic, nothing major, don’t want to annoy the neighbours too much
Simple to put up and use , brightness being important for the light evenings, handy if I can plug in apps tv if possible, plus iPad mirroring would be a plus
FYI, I live in New York, USA, if it makes a difference, happy to hear us available projectors, I’m sure the same will be available in the states

If you are worried about brightness you will need to pay a lot. For outside viewing with any residule light you would need well over 5000lm brightness. Our last office projector, which is 4500lm, was around £700. This is washed out a lot when the room brightens.

As said, brightness in daylight will be you biggest issue.

Other than that I’d look at something like an Optoma so that you get speakers built in. Then you only have to worry about a single box to move in and out.

Thanks, re brightness, I’m not looking to run I’m gaslight, more early evening before it’s properly dark, it’s more of the case which projector is brightest for a budget
Any screen ideas? Or just a basic white screen on a tripod?

Have a look at ProjectorPoint for specs on brightness, there are so many out there difficult to advise.

However I would still say you will struggle at that budget with any external light source.

Build a cover over the screen so less surrounding sunlight. Gazebo type affair.
