Hi Guys, I'm building a gym in the outbuilding at the end of my garden, and have it all cabled up to run two tv's through a SONOS Amp into ceiling speakers. It's all running out of a media cupboard.

First question. I want the tv signal to be displayed on both TV's. I also have an Apple TV and a sky Q mini down there. So the question is, would an HDMI output splitter (to choose between Apple TV and Sky Q) the running into a dual output HDMI splitter (so whichever format i've chosen on two TV's is displayed on both) work? I'm conscious it's two types of splitter next to each other.

Second question. this is slightly confusing so stay with me....I have Sonos in all rooms in the house, but as i'm sure you know, when you play media from Spotify to Sonos, unless you've started the stream from the same source (i.e you've selected songs for each room from the sonos app) then it'll work. If you select a song for one room from the Sonos app, then play the other to another room straight from spotify, it'll stop the music in the other room.

I want to be able to have an ipad in the gym with spotify always open, but so that it doens't affect what's playing in the house due to source clashing. . If i sign up for a whole new spotify account that's exclusively for the gym, and then send to my sonos down there form the spotify app will the sonos play the audio from the new account, or will it default to whichever account is associated to the sonos system? i.e my personal one and then stop what's playing in the house. Hope that makes sense!

My husband plays from a Spotify into Sonos and it drives me insane. Why don’t you just add the Gym as a new room on your existing Sonos system and play from within Sonos app?

You might get HDCP issues if you daisy chain devices like that but it's difficult to predict what the result would be. It might just take a bit of time to settle down after switching but I have known cases where the screen just stayed blank.

There is a Aten switch with dual outputs (VS482B) but I can't find anywhere that sells it in the UK.

Ok, two things I can answer.

Firstly, two sources to two tv’s you are best off using a little 2x2 hdmi matrix rather than try to do it yourself with splitters and switches. It should manage your HDCP and CEC better.

With Spotify, if your try to run a single account then you will have the issue you describe. We run a family account here in Vex Towers. One each for the family and the 5th one is on our house iPad that does everything else for us.
