Hello,

Looking to use a Sonos Amp to power some ceiling speakers. 2 in the kitchen and 2 in the living room.

Can I have 2 different things on in the two separate rooms? So in the kitchen music via Spotify and whatever is on the TV in the living room?

Living room set up I am looking at having a Beam and a Sub and 2 ceiling speakers (instead of 2 Sonos Ones as these will be destroyed by the toddler).

Thanks

No, unfortunately you can’t have them both playing at the same time, and it’s actually worse. It you are using the lounge in-ceilings as rears to the beam and sub (ie 5.-) then you will have to join and leave the lounge group each time you want to listen to music in the kitchen.

It will handle sound differently to as rear effects are different to stereo sound.

It’s not clear from the post but so you mean 2 amps , one in the kitchen and one in the lounge?
If you are prepared to shell out for 2 then yes you do what you want , with just one amp no

OP,

Are your speakers already in situ in the kitchen? Whats your budget?

if you stream most of your music via a phone \ tablet via bluetooth I'd suggest just getting a bluetooth enabled soundbar and bluetooth speakers.

If you have speakers already in situ in the Kitchen a Tangent Ampster is a much cheaper (and probably better sounding) choice.

If you're already deep in the Sonos eco, system stick with it but if you can handle leaving it, save your self some cash.

(looking forward to being Sonos free in the next couple of months!)

So my plan has changed somewhat.

I’m going to have the beam, amp and two in ceiling speakers for the TV and music in the lounge.

Then a Sonos one on the wall in the kitchen. I may add another Sonos one SL later.

I do like the Sonos stuff.

Is the Amp for rear surrounds ? I had a read up on doing this and it sounded complicated. It implied that the beam and the amp would blend to be connector to the router via Ethernet . It might be dead easy for your application to do this, but for me it’s not and I’m not sure if I’ve understood it correctly .
Any way it’s here so maybe you can work it out And let me know

You just add the amp after the beam and you get the opportunity to add it for surround duties.
It’s not harder than anything else in the app.

That link is not correct these days.

Yep, used to be a little convoluted logging into IP
Address and cryptic codes.

Now it’s all done via the app and simple to add. But it is still a little more permanent that just grouping zones together.
