Apologies but another questions about TVs.

We need to replace our main TV. We are limited to a 50" as it is in a recess. For some reason I have it in my head that LGs are good and have been looking at them.

The one I've been looking at is...

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertai...

for £500.

Or should I look at cheaper alternatives...

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertai...

for £350.

Is the LG worth the extra £150??

The TV is used for general viewing. We have a virgin media box so use netflix, catchup through that ordinarily. No gaming. No soundbars or fancy stuff.
The room is not huge and the viewing angle is quite wide.

I might like to add a soundbar at some stage just to improve the audio but this is not a major consideration.

So, what do the PH experts thing? Save £150 on a Hisense? I am tight if I'm honest but I don't mind spending a little more on the LG if there is a real benefit.

Go and see both of them, ideally listen to them.

I expect it will be reasonably obviously where the £150 went. Other brands are available.

Personally I’d only look at LG, Samsung or Sony and at the size you’re looking at my spidey senses say Samsung.

I bought a Hisense and was disappointed with the picture (bought online).
Very washed out and not vibrant at all, no matter what you adjusted.

A few months later, went to wall mount it and found only 3 the 'threaded holes' on the back for the bracket.
The 4th hole had nothing behind it.
They sent someone out to have a look and fix it but in the end refunded me and took it away.

Bought a LG from Richer Sounds (about £50 more than the Hisense) and it's a massive improvement. It's also got a great wide viewing angle.

Just buy the LG, it's worth the extra for a main TV.

The LG is the same price at Richer Sounds, sign up for their VIP club membership prior to purchase and you get a 6 year warranty free.

Try to find them to look at.
Every LG i've ever seen looked good. Every Hisense i've seen (not many, only a couple in my local Costco) has looked pretty poor, especially on fast motion.

Thanks all. A useful set of replies. I was expecting the opposite saying how good the hisense TVs are.

That is a useful tip by the way about the VIP club at Richersounds.

I did try and see a selection of TVs a week or so ago but to be honest I couldn't tell much difference in picture quality. I'm sure the TVs are setup out of the box and the lighting in the shop not great. Due to COVID I wasn't allowed to play with the remotes either which is fair enough.

I think I'll just order one of the LG ones tomorrow. Thanks.
