65” 4K OLED am I opening a can of worms!
Discussion
My current set up is a Panasonic 55” Viera which although was a flagship 1080i model around 5yrs ago, is not 4K and in TV terms, a little dated. I want to upgrade it to a 65” OLED but I have a few issues.
The 55” is recessed in the chimney breast, so I’d have to open it out, board and skim it. Not too much of an issue as I’d do most myself then get it skimmed.
The amp is a Yamaha RX-V673 which again, is slightly dated and doesn’t have Dolby Atmos but sounds good through the Monitor Audio 7.1 speakers.
The main issue I may have, is the amp & sky unit are in a media cupboard under the stairs. The HDMI cables are buried and run up in the walls, through the ceilings and down into the chimney breast at a distance of approx 12m. Looking back I should have ran ducting through the walls to help with future HDMI 2.1 upgrades but it was an oversight.
If I buy a 4K OLED will I end up having to upgrade the amp, and HDMI cables?
I’m concerned that I buy a decent tv then the rest of the system struggles to keep up and it ends up costing a lot more than a new OLED.

Ultra High Speed (8k) will only be a few feet passive. Premium High Speed (4k) a round 15’ I think. Be looking at a fibre methinks?

Mine are all a few feet long, not ventured into longer territory but I feed my amp via the optical out from the LG to the amp. e.g. My 4k source feeds the TV on HDMI. The TV is set to send 5.1 to the amp via optical.
My amp is all 1.4 HDMI hardware, the optical link is the only way to do it.

I have a similar aged amp Yamaha RX 677. Sky Q won't run UHD through it even though the amp was apparently 4k ready. When i upgraded to OLED i plugged everything directly into the tv and used e-arc to get the sound from the tv to the amp. its worked fine so far.
Atmos is something i've looked into but I'm still happy with my current 5.1 set up. Maybe a few years down the line or if i see a decent deal on a set up I'll maybe upgrade.
