I have just upgraded my headphones, I now have a pair on Sennheiser HD630.

They are blooming excellent and I would recommend you trying a pair if you want some new Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones.

Thanks

That dongle for the phone that give them the aptX Adaptive is a clever idea and apparently is very good indeed. I had both Sony overears and Sony earbuds at one point, now use Technics earbuds and if I was looking for overears then these would be a serious contender. (i'll wait for a sale maybe?)

Sony set the standard for a long while but have arguably been caught up and overtaken by other brands. Which is all good for us customers.

I've a pair of Bose NC700 over ear and a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra earbuds, the sound, comfort and ANC on both, is excellent.

I should hope so for the price!

Anyone looking for cheap, but surprisingly good NC earbuds should check out the Tozo NC20 pro, rrp £60 but £28 on eBay. Took a long haul flight with them last week and the NC is really good, plus they have a long battery life and tons of features.

Thanks for the heads up, worth a punt and it looks like I've bought the last pair @£28

AirPods Pro 3

I own Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds too and they're probably on a bar comfort and sound wise but the ease of connection to everything Apple swings it for me. Appreciate they're 'in ear' but these 2 are the best value IMO.

I've got some Sony wh-100xm5 headphones, which sounds great, are really comfortable and the noise cancelling is great. Except I hardly ever use them. The airpod pros are just so much more convenient and are plenty good enough.

Another thank you for the heads up on these.

Just received a set from eBay that I got for £30.

Initial impressions, very good.

Still very hard to beat the Sony XM range, the 6s seem to be doing as well as ever in group tests.

I've had the 2s, 3s and now using the 4s. Some of the automation Sony built into the 4s was a bit annoying - but easily turned off - but the ANC and sound quality are still both excellent, and I see no real reason to upgrade.

I'm sure the Apple stuff is OK if you struggle with advanced technical deployments, like turning Bluetooth pairing on, but otherwise, nah.

I've got the Bose NC700 too.

Very happy with the quality and sound.

At the time (I've had mine 2-3 years) they were I think the only option that had proper noise cancelling on the microphone. It works brilliantly in a noisy office, and is really noticeable when on the same call as others nearby and their Jabra headsets (allegedly with noise cancelling) are picking up everyone but the Bose doesn't.

I’ve had two pairs of sennheisers in the past. Both stopped working on one ear. I wouldn’t buy another sennheiser product

I take my Sony buds out the case and they connect automatically. How can Apple be easier? Surely all headphones are similarly easy to use.

A means to an end I suppose but it looks a bit naff. Better to just buy a phone with decent codecs at the outset.

There are some very impressive new Sennheisers at about £400. Check 'em out.

I fly long haul, usually once a month, often more. Am I the only one who loves the droning noise of the engines? It's very soothing, I sleep fine on planes, and NC headphones would make it worse for me. But the occasional crying baby, now there I can see the appeal.

You can adjust the level of NC on most headphones though, so you can have the droning and the music/ podcasts etc. But then if you can sleep fine there's no issue. i have a tough time sleeping so nc and music is required for me.
