Stereo Only from Sky HD

I have Sky HD connected to my Yamaha RXV640 AV amp via optical. From the front panel of the amp it appears that I am only receiving a stereo signal from the Sky HD on the HD channels. I thought this was supposed to be output in 5.1?

Depends if the broadcast is in 5.1 or not.

Default is stereo.

Yeah, Sky Movies and Sky Sports (Live events) are normally 5.1, as are some drama and series (especially American ones) on Sky1.

The Sky installer should have told you about that setting and set it up for you!

Checked and it was set to Normal, now set to Dolby Digital
