Looking to going to the classis again next year in my 420SEAC and would like to join up with a group this time. Living in the borders so can meet up wherever. However, age dictates that tenting is out so if you are also staying in an hotel this would be great.

Was in a group for the 2010 Classic and I believe most are looking to go again next year.

We book through Longers on here, he sorts the whole lot out apart from ferry tickets, you have to get them yourself.

In 2010 we had a Taimar, a couple of Tuscans, 3 Cerbs, 1 Chim and a fast Fiat, cracking weekend, we all did our own thing during the day and then had a group meal each evening in Arnage.

So far for 2012 we have 1 Chim, 1 Tuscan 2 Cerbs and a Lotus in our group.

We need a Wedge!!!

Got a mate coming over from Oz for this event...

Dunno what my plans are yet but I could be up for joining in with a group of like minded individuals. smile

As for the car, it'll either be the Cerb or the RRSport.

Campbell (or is it Muir?),
The Hants TVR crowd are already talking about 2012.

In 2010 we went with Speed Chills who had a very slick camp operation. Pukka toilets and showers - cleaned regularly, a big marquee housing a bar and tables and benches for the b'fast/evening meal, which you could purchase as an add-on for £40'ish(2 decent meals for 4 days).

There are 'chain' hotels in Arnage and Mulsanne, but I would imagine that they are already booked and/or fairly pricey for the w/end. So- you may have tpo look further afield, but that implies you'll have to travel on a daily basis, which won't be as frustrating as doing it for the 24H in June, but will mean you miss out on the banter at a campsite.

Remember, 2012 is the 50th anniversary of TVR's (ill-fated) first attempt at the 24 Hours. There will certainly be several 'period' Tivs competing, and I have asked the TVR club to organise some camping for the members.

Thanks chaps for the replies.

My father and I had a great time last year as we went over on the ferrie from Portsmouth to LeHav..
We had a great driver down to LeManns throught the countery side and we are wanting to do the same again in 2012 wedge still.
Were are looking for options for next year as there was a few tvr's made it onto the track and it would be great to have a go at the track.
Thanks for the info.

I too am planning to go to the Classic next year in No.1 Cerbera smile. I know quite a few TVR people who are planning to go, but have not yet finalised details.

I also went with Fast Track Tours (Longers) and was in the same group as Gruffalo. We had a brilliant time, plus it was blisteringly hot too!! tongue out

Yep i'll be going again, loved it in 2010 and like a lot on here i booked it through Longers, i'm based just north of Glasgow so could meet up on the way down. I got the ferry from Portsmouth last year, this year i'm off to the Old timers GP at the Ring (with Longers again) and am doing the Newcastle-Amsterdam crossing. The crossing is alot more expensive but with the price of fuel i reckon you come out evens and miss out hours of slogging up and down the M6,you also get a few drinks a slap up dinner and a nice kip on the ferry thrown in with a billy big breakfast to set you on the way in the morning. If the crossing works out well i'll probably look to use it again for the Classic.

See you at The 'Ring then! Are you camping? I'm travelling on the Thursday through the tunnel, hope to be on site for 4 pm'ish.

I went to the classic in 2010 in my red 280i, was great fun (if a tad warm at 40C!!) going to be limited on time this year (self employed working 6 days a week!) so might end up "cheating" and getting flown in to Le Mans by a pilot friend of mine on the sat eve and fly out on the Sunday eve.

Means I don't get to enjoy driving the wedge down the Mulssane straight (like i did last year) or getting it out on track (like i wanted to last year) but means I can still join in the fun.

If it wasn't "silly money" I might consider getting the car shipped down for the weekend, but I can't really afford that if I'm honest. I could possibly drive down but would be VERY late arriving on the sat and knackered by monday morning, and would miss a lot of the racing too.

Was definately worth it going in the wedge last year, did the "long way" via eurotunnel and down past Rouen (nice tunnel!!)

Maybe see you there next year.

This all ready well in hand, indeed I had a meeting with Ian Longdon and Rene (organiser of the event) at last years NEC Classic. They have given the TVRCC an exclusive area capable of holding well over 200 TVRs and several other great offers. Details to be announced nearer the time. It's looking like we will a VERY big presence next year.

Yes, I was with a group, mainly from Hants, but we had a couple of cars from further afield as well, all travelling on the fastcat to Le Havre.

Enjoy 'Dam and see you Friday no doubt.

David, I've emailed Sharon & Nick with regard to using the TVRCC's commercial 'clout' to lobby some of the well known tour folk. Their reply was in effect the same as yours.

I was speaking to the Elstrop's at TAG11 who intend to enter their Grantura for 2012 (Ian Massey-Crosse is behind them as well).

Should be a great event.

A few of us from Bucks & Middlesex went in 2010 and I'm sure that most are planning on a (slightly cooler) return in 2012.

Still early days, I guess! Top of my head, I think the Hants posse will travel with LD Lines fastcat Portsmouth to Le Havre - probably on the Thursday. LD seem to be the cheapest for the Western Channel crossings, and Pompey is pretty accesible for most, with good M'way links. Le Havre is OK, just need to negotiate the lunch time traffic before getting onto the bridge/Autoroute over the Seine....then you can stay on the M'way or opt to travel on the R.Nationale roads.

I think our group will be booking this as well, did the Friday morning sailing last year and it all ended up a bit rushed when we got down to Le Mans so will add the extra day and take it easy soaking up the atmosphere on the Friday next year.
