New Forest TVR Meet Preliminary Discussions
Discussion
Hi everyone,
pne and myself (as well as a few others) have expressed an interest in holding a New Forest TVR meet. I will also invite a few other close friends that frequent PH to bring their cars along too, so it's not exclusively TVR.
The purpose of this thread is to hold a discussion regarding location, date and time, activities etc. so please feel free to contribute.
I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Hold a big BBQ in the forest, maybe at Wilverley Inclosure. We could hire one of the built BBQs, they have toilets on site and loads of parking, albeit on gravel.
2. Meet at the Red Lion pub in Boldre: http://theredlionboldre.co.uk/ This is proper New Forest fayre, with a decent sized car park as they have a field behind they open up. It's not that big inside the pub however.
Any other suggestions? Also, any preferences on which day we hold it?
Please spread the word too!
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Dan,
Sounds good........ if I can get them all out at the same time, I know of at least six other TVRs in the area, non of which are PH members but all of which come and find me when they've got problems!!
Maybe easier to meet at a pub somewhere for the first time, just in case the weather doesn't want to play
Rich.

Well done Dan for getting on with this. I'm up for whatever and whenever although a lunchtime/early evening pub meet would seem to fit the bill.
I don't know whether this is of interest (and slightly out of the 'New Forest' area) but the Wessex Car Club have started a breakfast meet at Wilton House on the last Sunday of the month and the forthcoming meet (26th) is the Supercar Sunday. It is strictly 8.00 'til 10.30 but for those that are able to be excused Sunday morning duties this looks to be a good local alternative to the Goodwood breakfast club (and a lot closer)!!

If we got the BBQ pitches it'd be good to do that/picnic - not sure if any of you are old enough residents here to remember Pie on the Beach, a meet Don and I did for 6 years over on Hayling - great success.
This is how long ago it was, one year we had 66 cars - mostly TVR and 8 bikes and it was the biggest meet PH had ever had.

I remember that! It was my first meet. I went in my Celica. I took this photo when I was there: This is how long ago it was, one year we had 66 cars - mostly TVR and 8 bikes and it was the biggest meet PH had ever had.

Hey guys,
I'm edging towards a big BBQ and picnic, but I'd need to know who is going to come in order to arrange for food etc.
The venue would be here:
http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/englandhampshi...
They have toilets and lots of parking on site and it’s a large flat plain so great for Frisbee, cricket, badminton or sunbathing if you so wish! We could hire a brick BBQ for the day:
http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/englandhampshi...
The cost of this would be £65, so would people be willing to make a small contribution towards this?
I am going to suggest Sunday the 11th August. Could we start a list to confirm attendees. Finally, how would we organise food? Should we arrange for everyone to bring a selection of meat and veg and pile it up high for everyone to eat? Or would you like to pay a flat fee to attend and for one person to go out and buy all the food? We’ll make it a TVR orientated event, but anyone is welcome to join us down there. My brother will bring his VX220 if he’s not at sea then.
If a BBQ just isn't going to work, we'll go to a pub, but I would like to think we could take advantage of the nice weather we should have in August!
Attending:
1. Dan & Ashley (zed4) TVR Chimaera
2. Andy (Andy_VX) Vauxhall VX220
