Mid Essex February meet, Sunday 13th February 2011
Discussion
This coming Sunday is the second Sunday of the month which means another Mid Essex meet and another Mid Essex convoy
We'll be meeting at the BP Garage instead of the White Hart, just further up on the MacDonald's roundabout, to gather the convoy in the lorry park.
The roundabout will then be on the 'right side' for a smoother exit for the TVRs too.
and if you're joining the Southend pose pre meet, at the bays on Thorpe Bay front by the yacht park (between Maplin Way Thorpe Hall Avenue) and between for 10.15 to 10.30 leaving at 10.45 (or thereabouts).
How do I get to the Chelsford Meet..?
1) Take the A12 towards Colchester,
2) Turn off at J19 (Boreham) – keep in the left-hand lane,
3) Take the 3rd exit, into Mcdonalds, you will see us at the rear.
The White Hart is on your left a few hundred yards further on.
If you get to the roundabout, you have gone too far..!
Or just look up the address at http://www.multimap.com - White Hart, Colchester Rd, Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 5PG
If anyone is interested, we will be at a Southend Pre-pre meet at Marios cafe, opposite the crazy golf course at Southend seafront at about 9:00 - 9:15am, for a bit of Brekkie, all welcome,
Any questions please PM me,
Regards,
Steve

Looking forward to it
Ar$e, must get my diary better organised and attend one of these gatherings in the near future.
I'll try to aim for the March meet as my Chim should be back it's annual service and MOT session at Power by then...........along with uprated and ported heads, larger plenum, shortened trumpets, ported trumpet base etc, etc

New heads and inlet manifold! you really are going all in. Most people stop at the trumpets and Plenum. In for a penny......Having spoken to Dom a few times about what I was looking for in terms of overall driveability and throttle response across the rev range this appeared to be a sensible approach for the long term. If I'm really impressed with the results I'll come down to Southend and stump up for bacon sarnies

That is most certainly dedication to the cause. So what exactly are you going to end up with then, I can assume ACT smooth bore hoses, 72mm plenum, ACT carbon trumpets ect, what stage heads?Having spoken to Dom a few times about what I was looking for in terms of overall driveability and throttle response across the rev range this appeared to be a sensible approach for the long term. I'm not sure what "stage" they would be as Dom doesn't give specifics on his web site. The main driver for me here is to get the engine running as sweet and powerful as possible within reason and not requiring a change to the electronics or fuel system. The finished product will give more power across the rev range but more importantly more torque and easier driveability. I am not having ACT hoses fitted by Power but intend to do these myself at a later date, although Chris tells me that will involve losing some skin from my hands and arms and a lot of swearing.

Certainly sounds impressive, I shall be very interested to see what you make of it when all completed. It sounds almost like a top end rebuild to TVR Power Taraka spec. If it doesn't get done as part of the upgrade it would definitely be worth getting the ACT smooth bore plenum to AFM elbow fitted as these do make a noticeable difference on their own. Very easy to fit as well - I did mine and it took me 5 mins, no swearing and only a screwdriver required.

The AFM to airbox / filter will undoubtedly result in lost skin and swearing. I am intending to pay a TVR specialist to loose skin on my behalf on that one, probably safer knowing my complete lack of skill!

Aaah, that may have been what Chris was swearing at as he was replacing some pipe work that ran up the inside of the wing.

Best I get on to ACT and have them send me a Plenum to AFM elbow to fit..... or get Power to do it if it arrives in time

That was indeed what I lost my rag over. Several times. I had to retrieve one of the hoses from the front garden of my neighbour across the road, after I hurled it over there in a raging temper
HAHAHAHHAHAHA - That sounds like the kind of thing I would do and exactly why I am saving up the extra money to pay specialist to do it for me. It is just safer for everyone concerned!

LOL, that's why I've just ordered the elbow from Tim and will be getting Dom and his crew to fit it with the other stuff they are doing.
I'm with Matt on this one, leave it to the experts

Now the question is........should I get the camshaft done at the same time. I'm thinking it might be worth it in the long run

It may be a good idea to change the cam at the same time but cam choice is a tricky one.... if you do decide to change the cam make sure you choose wisely!

Now where did I leave my wallet.............

That will be one benefit of going to see Dom. He knows what I want the engine to do and can advise accordingly.

Sounds very sensible to me, I think cam choice is a very personal thing. What is right for one person could be completely wrong for another. Now where did I leave my wallet.............
You'll have to let me know how you get on once you get the car back.
At this rate you'll end up with the full Taraka Plus package
