Hi everyone

I'll be writing up a more detailed report on today's open-day for a future copy of Sprint, but wanted to post a quick summary of the fantastic event today and some initial pictures I took.

First thing I wanted to say was many thanks to Ian and the team at Hilton and Moss for putting on such a fantastic open-day for us and being as helpful as they were with any questions/technical issues etc. Everyone I spoke to thought it was a great day out and the only complaint I heard was about the lousy weather - which unfortunately, not even I can control (yet...) laugh

We had TVR owners from across the Cambs, Mid-Essex and Herts & Beds regions attend, with about 40-50+ cars arriving in 3 separate convoys throughout the morning. Many thanks to Zoe/John/Steve and Pauline for guiding everyone in - even if some of the Herts & Beds group did... divert unexpectedly and take a completely unrelated route (we're all just independent souls at H&B - nothing to do with our ability to follow a map or anything like that at all whistle ) Everyone did eventually arrive.

Unfortunately, one car did not make it successfully - I only hope the damage is not too bad!! yikes

Over the next few hours, everyone talked, ate, drooled over the shiny classics and kept Ian's team busy with questions about issues, chassis inspections and even hooking up a few Tiv's to a diagnostic laptop to check out some issues. Some people went out for a... very, spirited assisted ride in a Lotus with Martin (ex-F1 racer) and generally enjoyed ourselves as only TVR owners can.

I didn't keep an exact count, but I estimated that throughout the day over 70-90 people turned up and stayed either for the entire morning/afternoon or just popped in to say hi. I saw a stream of cars go up and down on the ramp and tried to say hi to as many folks as I could.

For me, the highlight of the day was speaking with everyone and looking at the classics - which I love the way they look. I hope everyone also had thoroughly enjoyable day too - I certainly did!

And now, enough of my ramblings, here are some pics...

All the best, Alex.

(In the next post!)

I'd like to say thanks to Alex, Zoe & everyone who was involved in arranging today's trip to Hilton & Moss. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and found the H&M staff extremely friendly & courteous.
The premises are fantastic and really something to be proud of - they were spotless - as were the superb range of classics on show. I have finally found some cars I'd trade the Tiv in for - I'm saving up for the BRG XK150 or the superb grey Aston DB5. I reckon by the time I'm 85, I might just make it, so any contributions to my fighting fund would be extremely appreciated!

Thanks again, fantastic day and good to see so many H&B & Cambs folk enjoying themselves. If you can get that many TVRs out in the rain, you must be doing something pretty special!

AHHHHHH Moneypenny!!

And as for this beast.

Must admit the cars there made the Chim feel a bit mundane. Good day and thanks for those who made it happen.

Don't do it Mick, Whats the Jag or the Aston got that your Chim hasn't?

Remember you just spent 25 quid on the Chim as well.

hehe

Nice one Mick, I'm in love again seeing it there all lovely!

Well, apart from build quality & unquestionable heritage, it's a bit like comparing me to James Bond really. He's the real deal, tough, charismatic & full of charisma & presence. All the Tiv & I have got really is our looks spin.

Anyway, I now have a first set of the 200mb+ of pics that Neill kindly took. I'll post a few up here & put some in Sprint, but if you want the ones Neill took with you and your car, please email me - you'll need to include your name, car reg, color + make etc so that I can recognize the image/owner wink

Thanks, A.
