A quick heads up for you discerning people. If any of you got into the first season of this, you'll know it was the best thing on the box since the wire. Even being in Danish & so subtitled couldn't spoil it for me. A murder mystery with endless red herrings reaching into government, business & the starkest study of grief all bundled up in a noirish style - even the music was top drawer.
I would urge anyone who likes quality drama to give this a spin & I have seen the first episode & I can share...it's easily as good as the last season. Plus there's Sophie Grabol - Heads up! BBC 4, Sun 20/11

Looking forward to it, I hope it does not disappoint as a large part of the original series was the quality of the supporting cast and it seems that only the Lund character continues over into the second series.
There had better be a cameo appearance by a Birk Larsen transit van at some stage

Not wanting to spoil it for anyone...but there's a murder!I can tell you Lennart Brix is in it from the start. Sadly though, no resurrection for Jan Meyer. No word on the Transit van!
It's going to be torture for the next ten weeks or so, thank god they are still showing two per Saturday.
My only question so far, any idea how much time has passed in the series? I'm guessing it's a couple of years (much like the two year gap between production in real life) as Lund's son seems to have grown up a bit!
I'm going to miss Troels, I just hope the new characters are as gripping and as affecting as the Birk Larsen's.

I didn't get past ep1 of the US remake, so I'm not one to comment.
The Danish original is some of the best TV since The Wire, thoughtful, considered, excellent actors with room to do their work with a story to back it up. In series 1 I thought the way it kept the family as a main story arc was particularly effective, among other things.

I share your pain. I watched the first one and half the second. Will watch the second half just before next Saturday…. and repeat. (I do the same with Dexter…)OK, as expected, it's slow, but I'm hooked. The production values are as good as the first season.
As for the US version, I started to watch that, got to about 6 episodes and they were very good! But then started to watch the Danish repeats and never finished the US version. I believe the US version may have a different story line for the second series, so may give it a go…
One paper described it as gloomy, intense, slow moving… and in Danish...
…. but I love it!
The American version I'm told swapped the story about a bit to give a different perpetrator, which makes semse I suppose. The big thing with it for me is the sparse characterisation. No histrionics, just a story told through tight, often slight performances. The actors have it very well judged.

I was a bit suprised to see Series 2 out on DVD next month, until I saw one of the reviewers say its only 10 episodes for Series 2 and not 20 like Series 1, this correct?It was absolutely outstanding.
Although I support the idea of only doing as many episodes as they have good story for, it is a bit of a shame seeing how brilliant S1 was.
Just finished watching Killing 2.
Both 1 and 2 were interetsing to watch but if I am honest the endings of both were a big disappointment.
I mean the murderer revealing a little too much just at the end when they have gotten away with it? Must have seen that at least 20 times already in other films/shows.
I'll start on 3 tonight though.
