I'm watching, must be the first drama I've watched on Shi-TV for a very long time!

I hope he's earning out of it!

I still think of that case as a dreadfully sad affair. That poor girl, killed just before Christmas, her parents on TV appealing for her return. The media flaying Jeffries on no more evidence than he was a bit odd & the police feeding them.

Terrible business all round.

Very,very, well done so far.

I would have liked to have seen some insight into the investigation and what lead to his arrest, though. It just happened.

The actor playing Jefferies has got him to a tee - it's extraordinary

It was a disgrace from start to finish.

I read a good interview with him a couple of years ago after he won a considerable amount of money from the papers, and he looked quite content in life having moved to a nice big house and changed his hair style and was well dressed.

I hope he got well paid for his input into this programme as well.

As someone who was taught English by CJ for 4 of my 5 years at Clifton, I can say that it is incredible how well the actor has captured him. Spooky

What was he like as a teacher/person?

He seems completely harmless if a little eccentric.

He was a brilliant master in a superbly talented English department. Loathed games with a passion in a sports obsessed school, was funny, engaging and definitely eccentric. What amazes me is that he was only in his mid 30's back then. He hasn't really changed much in appearance or manner at all in the intervening 30 odd years since I left.

Really enjoyed that, well made and fantastic acting.
I stopped buying newspapers a few years ago, and a true story like this shows them at their worst, gutter press at it's lowest, all for some cheap crappy headline to flog a few more copies.
Looking forward to tomorrows episode.

I haven't bought newspapers for years either.

The press can't help themselves though can they? They just make up outrageous stories time and time again and get hauled over the coals for it yet nothing changes.

Mental.

You're right, they are happy to smear often innocent people for their own gain without a single thought on how their actions may ruin someone's life, it's a disgrace!
Spitting image had them sussed back in the day!

Pretty much how I remember him too as I also went to Clifton, 1980-1987.

I seldom watch TV, but thought that was very well done.

I'll be avoiding QT with the Brand v Farage face off for a few days as I don't want it tainting part two of this excellent Christopher Jefferies film.

Thats good to know. It shows even more that he should not have been targeted for being a bit different. I've seen him in quite a few interviews with his new look, and he comes across as a very articulate and decent person. i think every school of that era had a nutty professor!

I haven't bought a paper in over a decade because of this sort of journalism.
