I know it's light entertainment but the last couple of episodes where ridiculously lightweight.
And Denis Waterman looked like an 80yr old (he's 67).
180° disagreement from the Noisy household! And Denis Waterman looked like an 80yr old (he's 67).
We found it properly plotted, acted and entertaining. Especially compared to the last series (or two!) which seemed to be all "aren't we wacky oldies" rather than having substance.
Amanda Redman (phwoar) leaving was a hit but that Eastenders lass wasn't irritating enough to spoil our enjoyment,

Jet
I've watched this since it started - it's been pretty good all the way through really. I don't think it's the first time they've said it would be the last series though - didn't they say that for Amanda Redman's last series as well, though perhaps not so often?
Strange that in the main closing scene of the second episode of this series (vague enough to not count as a spoiler) that some faces from the past weren't there - Amanda Redman and Alun Armstrong being the main two.
Was it just me that thought the backing music in the first flashback sequence of the first episode was about as close to the Sweeney theme as they'd get away with?

Last two episodes have been terrific. Why is it getting so good now, just as it's about to end?
The (new) current team are really very good.
The actor they chose to portray the young Gerry Standing was very convincing.
Agree with all of the above. The (new) current team are really very good.

I had thought it was running out of steam, but this new series has got off to a very good start.
And yes, the young Gerry was very convincing.
I might be wrong here, but the BBC showed Series 12 episode 1 as a fill in last night. And I've never seen it before (that one, not New Tricks itself). And it was really good. But it's a 2 part story and as far as I can find out, episode 2 has no upcoming broadcast date.
So if i'm right, what kind of f
kwitted BBC person decides to put something on as a fill-in to the schedules which is a two part story with no space for part 2 ?

I didn't notice it last night, but isn't in on Drama or Yesterday quite often?
Yes, I looked it up and it's on Alibi at the moment, series 12 but episodes 8 or onward. The BBC site says episode 3 in on in two weeks time but not episode 2. I hope they do put it on because it was really very good last night.

TV schedules will change dramatically in the near future as sitcoms, series and (hopefully) reality TV programmes cease filming, a lot of old stuff is likely to reappear to fill the gaps.So if i'm right, what kind of f

I wasn't thinking of Alibi, as that's not on Freeview. There's an episode on Drama tonight, but either the guide doesn't say what series / episode it is, or my BT Box has slipped it off the side of the screen.
Series 6 according to tvguide.co.ukHopefully the BBC will put it on next Thursday as they will, I'm sure, move QT like they did yesterday.
