Said they made a profit, hardly worthwhile for the effort/time was it! £85K for the resto work. Not sure what the seller fees were - if any, but would make it even worse.
If I got the figures right, they made 20K for six weeks work (that was their deadline). I get the impression they didn't work flat out for those six weeks - there was a bunch of things that they just sent out / ordered in and waited. Call it 20K for 4 weeks. I could live off that. Anyway, enjoyed it. There are some great restoration/build projects on YouTube (B is for Build and Project Binky for a start) if you're itching for more welding time.

I've never seen the show before and know nothing of Ant Anstead, but if he was a novice racer as I think he said, why was there no Novice X on the car?
He raced in May at Cadwell in the Classic VW championship, which would have been prior to the Silverstone Classic. Not sure if he did any other races as that alone wouldn't have been enough to get rid of the X.MyVTECGoesBwaaah said:

He even got the name wrong of someone he interviewed - the short guy walking down the pitlane who raced the car in period was Mike Beckwith, not Beckworth as Glenister called him. Lazy script and research. A programme made for the general public rather than a genuine fan.

I wondered that too... I said the Mrs that he'd have to have a black 'X' on a yellow ground but he didn't. Luckily she didn't notice and my credibility was preserved! I think she'd nodded off!nicanary said:
It used to be 6 signatures many years ago. I don't know what it is now. He looked very, very slow. One of theose gentleman racers who get in the way of the faster cars at all classic meetings.

Why actors are treated like demi-gods when all they do is recite other people's words is beyond me. He, like so many others, plays himself when he 'acts'.Mr GrimNasty said:
