Sort of good, cos that’s his role and we associate him with that character. He’s a bit of a knob though, so it’s annoying at the same time.

I was expecting this as he dropped a massive hint weeks ago.

Make it so, sooner rather than later as he’s 78..

I'm a bit meh about this. Undoubtedly Picard is the most iconic Star Trek character after Spock and Kirk but milking it to try and re-invigorate the franchise after several flops is too cynical IMO.

not sure you can say several flops.

After ST:TNG came DS9, which was excellent, and then Enterprise, which did not perform in all honesty as the studio would have liked. Enterprise was a slow burner but would appear to be gaining pace

This ^.

The spat with James Corden was cringe.

That was a one-off. Corden was a dick before then and remains so today.

You missed out Voyager, which was also pretty good, but....

Discovery is awful - Star Trek in name only. Enterprise I thought was actually quite good, largely because it had an excellent cast but the writing was terrible towards the end.

Can't get out of my mind the Michael Dorn prank he played on a live set. Loved to have been there.

Picard: My ready room Mr Worf.
Worf: Trousers down sir?

[entire cast fall about]

Personally I love Discovery. It’s been a monumental hit too, and quite likely secured the future of Star Trek.

I have to admit i was very much in the grumpy "its not Star Trek" camp when it was first announced, but having watched it, it really did take off and i enjoyed it.

Nice open mind for this next one.

It’s the only thing that can make this work now.

ST:TNG in its previous form had run its course both on TV and Film and would not work today.

Re-imagined by the Discovery team and it could be great.

The thing is it doesn’t need to be reimagined. It’s 20 years past anything cannon. It’s an open book.
