Listened to a fantastic podcast where Kevin Smith interviewed his daughter yesterday. She auditioned for this off her own back, having had loads of auditions and rejections at that point. Kevin thinks she's a bit mad aiming that high, but it was an interesting discussion where she wants to make it on her own and Kevin, independently, also decides he's never going to try and call in a favour with QT or anyone else.

She didn't get the part but had good feedback direct from QT, just no role that suited. She gave up acting at that point, started a band and the beginnings of a nice little music career. 4 months later she gets a call, Quentin now has a role that fits in the script and wants her in it. So from pretty much nothing she then spends a month shooting with Brad Pitt, Leo, Margot Robbie etc.

Bit of a shame that this has a UK release several weeks after the US, then.

Looks like better subject matter for Mr Tarantino than Hateful Eight (didn't really like).

Am definitely interested.

Anyone else seen it?

Went last night. I liked it but I am not sure I could tell you why, I think this is a film where it pays off to know the backstory behind what he is trying to do with this movie, which I didn't.

He has been saying he will probably only make 10 movies for years.

More recently he has floated the idea that if he revisits a movie it would be Kill Bill.

Hasn't he already directed 10?

Res Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill 1
Kill Bill 2
Deathproof
Inglorious Basterds
Django Unchained
Hateful 8
Once upon a time in Hollywod

I also thought he did From Dusk til Dawn - turns out that's not the case.
