Did anyone catch the first episode last night on Ch4? A typically hard hitting drama about a recovering alcoholic by Shane Meadows. As a bonus, the soundtrack is by PJ Harvey.

Yeah, relegated Billions to recorded for a later date for this story.

Stephen Graham at his best and once settled in I'm reminded how much I like Shane's story telling.... Tight, and up close, camera sometimes moving like turning your head rather than cuts between views, putting us at the dinner table, the kids room, in the bar.

REALLY liked it, thoroughly engaging despite not much actually happening in this first episode (not a criticism).
And as already mentioned, PJ Harvey soundtrack is a welcome accompaniment.

Grim! Not explicitly violent but grim! Brilliant performance by Stephen Graham especially.

Dark indeed and quite unsettling. Graham really does play 'disturbed characters' well, and Medows seems to achieve real gritty drama by keeping things to a bare minimum.

I do like the sister-in-law, she seems like a handy girl to have around hehe

She was great. Great right hander.

I thought the musical score for the whole series was brilliant. Really added to the whole feel.

Bloody hell, what an awesome piece of Telly that was, SM's best work to date for me that. Can't believe this hasn't generated more comments.

Caught up over the last couple of nights after watching Chernobyl.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I caught this on All4 recently. Bloody Hell, I like anything SG is in but this is particularly good.
