Difficult to see how they can parody what's going on in real life! They will have to go the other way. Boris Johnson is a saint, who cultivates an image of a liar, cheat and womaniser in order to win votes, but in fact he secretly lives with his wife who he adores.

I'm sure they'll manage, they elevated many politicians to cult status the last time.

I really hope it is proper puppets as it used to be, they did something that was animated and I thought was dreadful.

Definitely something to look forward to.

I very much doubt it'll be anywhere near as good as the original, but all the same I expect I'll still watch it.

(Although come to think of it, it will probably be full of people I've never heard of.)

I remember the first time round when it was new and properly satirical and cutting. As with most things in the past though there was as much miss as hit. The various revivals have been pretty poor. Hope this is better but it’s down to the writing - the puppets are just the props.

Now is the time for it to come back, there is plenty of material.
The first 80s series cost £2.6m and launched a few famous named comedians too.

2dtv was the first follow-up, it was pretty bland compared to the original (then Headcases). I doubt we'll see the kind of cutting satire we did in the heyday of SI. My guess is it'll be weak as piss, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

I hope it's as edgy as it was and not this watered down vanilla comedy ste that's being churned out these days

I can't think of Spitting Image without getting 'the Arnie Song' in my head - not a good one to be singing out loud!

This. I watched it in the 80's, much of it was really poor, a lot of the script was dire, unfunny. They relied too much on caricatures, a spitting Norman Tebbit dressed up a bover boy is funny once or twice but in the end it the show was let down by an un-funny, poor, script.

To be fair, the original was pretty rubbish most of the time, but when it hit the bullseye, it really did.
