New Year Countdown and 'Big Ben' Chimes 2019-2020
Discussion
As Big Ben is out of action this year, there is a specially customised Big Ben bell that will chime 12 'calls' (if that's what they are called).

I'm running a little party in our village hall and want to have a new year countdown and chimes playing via the radio that we have hooked up to some speakers, so we can all have a countdown to the new year, but I'm struggling to find any info via the usual radio stations that let me know who is doing the countdown.
Via a bit of shenanigans, I could have internet radio (will take a bit of organising as our kit doesn't natively support this) as a last resort but would prefer Radio 1, 2, 4 or Heart FM if possible.
Any clues as to which Radio station might be doing a countdown please?

Your telephone might ring, mine buzzes. Anyway, I was thinking the bell tolls, it tolls for thee. Just saying!

Ding dong.

Ding dong merrily on high,
In heav'n the bells are ringing:
......
Pray you, dutifully prime
Your matin chime, ye ringers,
It seems so, that bells do so ring whilst ringers (those ringesting) play the morning chime music?
Really Mods? NP&E? Surely if you were going to move it from the lounge it should be moved to "TV, Film and Radio" as it fits at least one of those categories? But FFS please don't move it there! It's a question about where to find the best NYE radio show/prog for the countdown and chimes. It's not news, it's certainly not politics and I'm pretty sure there's no economic benefit to it whatsoever!

So now we are in TV Films and Radio? FFS Mods have you not heard of sarcasm??? Lounge is where it belongs!I've spent years DJing various clubs at NYE, pre recorded is the easiest way and eliminates any problems with the broadcast on the night. Personally I hate the bells, they go on for actual ever and kill any atmosphere, I'd do the countdown, have a cheer, then into an up tempo version of Auld Lang Syne - sorted.

Stick to Radio 2 or 4; anything streamed will be several seconds late. Does the place have a TV you can put on for a few minutes (although even that will be delayed)?Any clues as to which Radio station might be doing a countdown please?

I think this is the way I'm going to go, just to make sure we get a countdown and the midnight chime. Any suggestions as to good countdowns/chimes? If not, I'll just hunt around YouTube and download the audio from whatever I find.WilliamWoollard said:

It's just the 12 chimes this year due to the ongoing restoration works.Mr Pointy said:

We don't have a TV but I can hook up my laptop and stream TV sound from that - but again - what show will have the countdown and chimes? Possibly harder with TV as it's more of a 'show' so more obvious that I'm chopping from my background music to the countdown, then back to my background music. From a quick check, it seems BBC1 and ITV are going to do the countdown, chimes, then fireworks (10-15 mins???) then Auld Lang Syne.Edited by S6PNJ on Tuesday 31st December 09:08
