Just sat watching another one I never intended to - For a Few Dollars More, 1965.
Nineteen bloody sixty five, it's before I was even born.
They're only on a few times a year. I should have gone to bed, but what is it? I just love them. The way they're filmed, the actors, the music, the scenery, the twists in the plot, everything, it's just fantastic.

Agree. Even when you know the ending having watched them so many times they are irresistible. I can even forgive the terrible dubbing of the non-English speaking cast. The cast, scenery and music make up for it. Always end up watching them. Sadly my wife does not share my enthusiasm and keeps telling me I have already seen them!

The Good the Bad and the Ugly is my favourite film ever. I watched a film last night called Sad Hill Unearthed, which is about the location of the cemetery scene at the end of the film. Some locals have restored it to how it was during filming in 1966. To help with the costs, you could even sponsor a grave! It's on my bucket list of places to visit.

The ecstasy of gold scene is one of my most favourite scenes ever. Eli Wallach running through the cemetery with Edda Dell'Orso vocals giving me the shivers. Tremendous, near, closing scene to a great film.

The non progressive, Italian casting couch doesn’t do any harm either.

Even the wife stayed up and watched it with me as it reminded her of watching it with her father as a girl. Great film even with the awful dubbing / sound.

Bravo.

I do think the three Eastwood films, and Once Upon A Time In The West, are way superior to all other films in the genre.

As usual the best of them does not get mentioned.

Perhaps the greatest film ever made in my opinion.

Once Upon a Time in the West.

the score is worthy of an Oscar alone, in fact I doubt there has been a better one. Robards, Cardinale, Bronson are exceptional but Henry Fonda is sublime as a badass, and this film contains the greatest single score/scene I have ever witnessed in any film.

So no shock, if you like spag westerns, this is the best of the lot.

Best finish to any film ever, hence my desire to visit the location. I think I'll dig out my soundtrack CD and get it on in the car. Should improve my commute to work tomorrow!

Excellent movies and soundtrack.
As good as Edda dell'Orso was, I think Susanna Rigacci totally nails it. biggrin

Saw it once, many years ago, and have never been tempted to watch it again. Although I probably should, since I can't remember much of it!

Although not a Spag Western Clint Eastwood's first film from his own production company Malpaso and made in 1968 using all his experience of the Spag Westerns "Hang 'Em High" is also worthy of mention if you haven't seen it. It tends to be a little forgotten about with the later Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter and the Outlaw Josey Wales often shown more on TV.
