Car SOS Metro 6R4
Discussion
I don’t like TV car shows, but I do like Grp.B stuff and today at work I saw a Metro6r4 at the unit next door - the fella told me it was going to be on TV in March. I don’t watch TV but some of you like Grp.B, so for those of you who are interested keep an eye on the listings in mid March
The 6R4 Episode will air on the 14th of May, it's the last of the series.
It should be really interesting, it's not really a Metro of course, it's a tubular chassis with a fibreglass body that sort of looks like a Metro. If the owner wants to use it for racing and not just an awesome road car or garage queen that'll bring a whole different set of challenges.

They did build road going versions of the Metro 6R4, but they're super rare. It could very well be one of these. It should be really interesting, it's not really a Metro of course, it's a tubular chassis with a fibreglass body that sort of looks like a Metro. Although, it is worth noting, that the 6R4 anyway has nothing really to do with a Metro.

The episode has been postponed as they didn’t finish it (the car or the editing I don’t know) before lockdown!
I saw that the next episode was going to be about trial cars, so I thought that's where the Metro would come in to it. Shame that it's cut short but can't be helped. Although a Metro 6R4 special would be brilliant!ian2144 said:

I think I had Mighty Metro scalextric as well, must have been Christmas 1991 or so when I was about 6. Was one of them blue and yellow? I guess back then I didn't appreciate what the actual cars were, just loved playing with it!
Yeah the other one was white. I'd have got mine when I Was about 5 years old, so maybe 1992? I just remember the banked oval track, and how only one of the bloody cars ever worked. Great fun flying that one car completely off the bank! Had it a week, and I got an Action Man jeep instead.ian2144 said:
If memory serves, I think the windscreen was one of the few things the were carried over from the Metro.
The one I went in also had the dash from an MG metro iirc, and possibly the steering wheel. Which with hindsight seems utterly bizarre but a quick look on google images shows was the case for some clubman versions.Back in the day you could buy a body kit to make your humble normal metro look like a 6R4 , well sort of .
I was once asked to bring a rallycross 6R4 back to the paddock from parc ferme at Lydden.
Alas with my size 11 para boots on I couldn't get my feet in the foot well to operate the pedals and had to pass it to someone with more dainty feet .
