They've cut back on filing all soaps, and therefore showing fewer episodes.

Which is great as far as I'm concerned, because I get some respite from arguing with my wife about weeknights being spoiled by watching Cockneys shout at each other.

It's going to be great when the soaps catch up to coronavirus and we have 12 months of episodes where the characters do absolutely fk all.

Everyone on the market is fked. Ian Beale is fked. Mick and Linda are fked. The launderette is fked. Everyone who lives on Coronation Street is definitely fked.

Yes, but I miss Tiff's bod, and her spooky ability to levitate 2 inches off the ground

I’m not an avid viewer of EE, but my wife is, so there are times when I see bits of it, at other times I’m in another room, emailing kids and grandkids.
I recognise the girl in the picture, she’s either married to, or got the hots for a young black kid who sells sandwiches around Albert Square.
If I was 18 or 19 again, I’d probably take a serious crack at her, but at my age now, if I was attracted to her, I’d hand myself in to the local constabulary.

Where does one file soaps - apart from in the "Utter Rubbish" bin.

This is of course your subjective opinion. I'm not really a fan either, but they have been a global TV success for decades, lots of people like them.

According to the research, goals for media use can be grouped into five uses. The audience wants to:

be informed or educated
identify with characters of the situation in the media environment
simple entertainment
enhance social interaction
escape from the stresses of daily life
Apart from the first one, Soap operas deliver on these. For the rest of us, books and the Discovery Channel.
