60 Days In - Netflix
Discussion
Started to watch this last night and have only got 3 or 4 episodes in so far and it's starting to make some really interesting viewing.
Premise of the show is 6 regular citizens are put in an American prison undercover for 60 days.
Only 3 people within the justice system are aware of them being in there. The sheriff, once guy who has advised them on how to behave / not behave, and 1 other cop.
Of the 6 people 1 guy is either a current serving marine or very recently left the marine corps and is wanting to become a DEA officer. - Comes across as a very decent guy.
2nd guy is a school teacher who believes the justice system is soft and is going in there with some deluded idea that he is going to breeze through it and make friends.- Comes across as an absolute weapons grade end of a bell.
3rd guy is 19 and from a bit of a broken background and has an older brother who has been in prison for 5 years - Comes across as a really nice kid and will hopefully do well out of this.
1st woman is Muhammed Ali's daughter. - Hiding her identity as Ali's daughter though and she has only just come in to the prison in the last episode I watched. - Comes across really well but may be a bit naive?
2nd woman is a stay at home mom who again believes the american justice system is too soft and has a similar agenda to Guy 2 - I fear she may get eaten alive.
3rd woman is a serving police officer who was adopted after being removed from an abusive home. A lot of the people she knew from the care system have taken a life of crime and a completely opposite path to her and she has gone in there to try and understand why that happens. - Comes across as thoroughly decent and very switched on, she will do well in there.
Before they went in they were all warned that the prisoners would test them, and poke and prod them to try and figure them out. To help the 6 participants out they were all given back stories to why they were in prison.
Up till now the episodes have mainly been focused on guys 1 & 2 and women 2 & 3 time in prison.
Guy 1 seems to get it right from the off and has been accepted in to the group of 50 guys he is in the wing with.
Guy 2? Well the sheriff who had been observing him stated that 'He is doing everything wrong' and he really is. He walked in there like 10 men and has riled everyone up on his wing, they believe him to be an undercover cop and they are getting very, very agitated with him. The last episode I saw last night culminated in the security camera above him being covered with a towel by one of the inmates so it's going to be interesting to see what comes of that.
Woman 3 is on a similar path to guy 1 and is doing really well.
Woman 2 is a total rabbit in the headlights.
It was pretty compelling viewing last night and we only stopped watching because it was pretty late and my Mrs is working today, so it will be interesting to see how the rest of the episodes go tonight.
