James May in Japan is 10x better !
Wholeheartedly agree. His show at least made some effort to go off the beaten track (the town near the Fukushima reactor was haunting).Paul Hollywood's show felt embarrassing and 15-20 years out of date. The narrator, graphics and fonts made it feel like Eurotrash!
I enjoyed it. I thought the first half was better - actually concentrated on the restaurant and food, but predictably went off into the usual ‘isn’t Japan weird’ in the second half once the funny female guide was ditched. I think it is mandatory to show those ruddy go karts in every travelogue set in Tokyo.
