It could do without the voiceover constantly cutting in to explain everything.

The narrator is doing my nut in. I feel like I'm watching one of those educational videos in a high school modern studies class.

Another one of these 'lol, isnt Japan so weird and quirky' shows that barely scratch the surface of the country they're covering.

Is it really too much to ask that these shows are done a little more in depth and respectfully?

Wholeheartedly agree. His show at least made some effort to go off the beaten track (the town near the Fukushima reactor was haunting).

Paul Hollywood's show felt embarrassing and 15-20 years out of date. The narrator, graphics and fonts made it feel like Eurotrash!

Fascinating.

Would anyone like to share the channel and time this is on?

Many thanks.

I enjoyed it. I thought the first half was better - actually concentrated on the restaurant and food, but predictably went off into the usual ‘isn’t Japan weird’ in the second half once the funny female guide was ditched. I think it is mandatory to show those ruddy go karts in every travelogue set in Tokyo.

I came across it while channel surfing.

Saw him describing a ramen as 'it’s like a posh Pot Noodle’

Just Watched the full series, enjoyed it but love Japan and food so worked for me. I did watch the May in Japan and was interesting, but the fake tension was very cringe and detracted from a good show.
