Best TV Show Theme Tune

Kids shows, music shows, dramas, sports and even news shows - all can produce an example of a classic theme tune. [But not, in any example I can think of, soap operas.]

The spread from unremarkable to unforgettable is vast.

Just hearing the opening bars of a piece of music can take you right back to when the programme was first broadcast. Who can hear ’Soul Limbo’ by Booker T and the MGs and not be immediately transported to thinking of cricket? Hear the Blue Peter theme and you’re a child again.

You don’t have to have an original piece of music: as above some great songs have been used as theme tunes.

There are so many candidates but I’m not asking for your top 10 - just the best. So please pick just one. And if you feel the need to add a YouTube (or other) link please say what it is for people who don’t click links.

I watch them often and I think my attachment to them, and their tunes, comes from the fact they would have been the first 'grown up' programmes I was allowed to watch as a kid. Nostalgia, it ain't what it used to be....
