as it says which actor/ess has the best body of work? I suspect that that is to say the fewest duds rather than has won the most awards?

I know that there'll be a lot of people rooting for De Niro - but he has made some absolute stinkers that even Michael Caine might have had second thoughts about!

So go on then - let's see who you've got in mind....

I'm going to say Tom Hanks,

He's rarely made Bad films, he's made some very very good ones and even when it's below his best he's always watchable in it. Even if he tends to play middle of the road, safe characters.

2nd Denzel Washington.

3rd Gary Oldman.

I'd go with Leo as well, from Basketball diaries to now I can't think of anything terrible he's done although I've not seen them all.

Denzel/Hanks are good shouts, maybe Pitt.

Tom Cruise - there is some dross, but there's plenty of quality (and lots of films featuring cars, bikes, planes & girls).

ETA, I also agree with the previous suggestion re. Eastwood, DiCaprio, Washington & Hanks.

I’d also go for Gary Oldman.

A bit off topic - but the best intro to an actor/ celeb on a gameshow...

Simon Amstell on Never mind the Buzzcocks
"This movie has been acclaimed as one of Danny Dyer's greatest works.

But don't let that put you off."

Kevin Spacey has had a pretty good run, ignoring the obvious drama...

The Usual Suspects
Seven
LA Confidential
American Beauty
21
Moon
The Men Who Stare At Goats
Baby Driver.

any love for the older generation actor such as Kirk Douglas/Rock Hudson etc - or is it a little difficult to judge as the style of films has moved on so dramatically?

That's a peerless one.

Domhnall Gleeson has popped up in a lot of impressive films.

First thought was Leo, however when thinking about it, Samuel L Jackson may just take it.

Granted he has been in a few crap movies but they have been crap in a good way for the most part (XXX for example).

Johnny Depp is also up there.
