Not sure what else the alternative would be if the police aren't enforcing the law and the courts aren't locking up serial shoplifters, imo the security staff should be given more powers.
I saw it and thought they handled it very well. It doesn't need the police to sort out the scum who think shoplifting within the big shopping centres is acceptable. Banning orders are sensible for the smaller value items, with prosecutions for the bigger values or repeat offenders.
