As the BBC has decided to drop AN from the schedules will he move to another broadcaster (America?) and become more 'chat show host' style with political content or will he go back to journalism/editor role in the new online medium?

I would love to see him taking on a political satire show akin to the late, great Clive James or a travelogue in dangerous places interviewing some of the worlds' dictators, much like Alan Whicker once did, but maybe these formats are 'so yesterday'?

I think Andrew Neil is a little old to do the sort of thing you describe.

He will be a huge loss to TV though in my opinion, there is no one left on any of the channels who will expose these interviewed in a way AN does.

I can't believe they're axing him. He's the only decent journalist regularly on the BBC now. Can't they axe lineker instead?

He doesn't fit the mould at the BBC or Channel 4 these days and ITV have floppy erratic Peston so not sure were he would go, Channel 5 if they get rid of Vine.

I liked old Brillo when he did This Week with it's mix of political mischief and downright surreal moments. Diane Abbott and Liz '4%' Kendall getting called out for their sheer stupidity by Portillo was a personal highlight.

What ever possessed the BBC to get rid of This Week and replace it with Brexitcast / Newscast it's a terrible show.

and who can forget this, he came on spouting some incoherent Marxist rubbish

This Week is sorely missed in our household.

I fail to understand what the BBC had against it. The casual conversations on Politics were exactly how they should be conducted. Obviously Alan Johnson seemed to fall out of favour under Corbyn,, but he would have been perfect espousing Starmer’s brand of Socialism.

Portillio not supporting the Tory line on all issues did give a better picture without supporting Alt Right views.

We did find the AN interviews on Wednesday evenings to be just a tad too abrasive, it was the informality of the chat-show style of This Week that made it so good

Watching someone getting skewered by Neil is one of life's true pleasures.
