Starts tonight at 9pm on Sky Atlantic

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6905686/

Lovecraft Country follows "Atticus Freeman as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback

I'm a fan of the books and thought last night's was quite watchable, not quite sure where they are going with it yet. Difficult subject and times!

That certainly took a turn 10 mins from the end!

Hoping it’s as good going forward as it looks.

Really enjoyed this. In turns interesting, funny and (for the wrong reasons) horrific. Looking forward to seeing where things go with this

Thought it was pretty awesome. Was well aware of previous Lovecraft based stuff but from the description was not really sure if the horror they where referring to was just the times they where living in/how they where treated or if it was actual (as the description put it) creatures straight from a Lovecraft novel. As said above though, it sure as s**t did make that clear towards the end. Looks like it will be well worth sticking with.

Good show but its like a bitter pill dressed up with the fantasy elements to enable people to keep watching.
Is this why the USA produces so much fictional entertainment about heroic goings on? To gloss over their disgusting recent past?

Think I'm giving up on this after the second one, just not really doing it for me.

I must admit it all got a bit witches and warlocks - not really my thing.
Noticed just how bad the sfx are too.

I'm wondering where they go from here. That could've been a finale.

There are clips after the end credits of each episode, a sort of 'coming in this season' teaser.

Ah, I didn't know, but wouldn't watch it anyway. I stopped watching next episode teasers with the Walking Dead, they give away too much.

Really enjoying it TBH - it's nice/depressing how the Lovecraftian horror is over-shadowed by the real world horror

Why did episode 2 jump around so much?

One minute they there, then they're somewhere completely different, then they're somewhere completely different again.

I assumed it would all be explained later, but it wasn't.

I don't mind the witches and warlocks aspect in general, but no; I don't think it's for me either. Not quite sure why, I'm just not entertained.

Not sure what you mean? It was mostly centred around the house they where staying in (and surrounding area)

For example: In one scene they were at the dinner where they told all the club members to fk off. Jump cut to them in the stone tower in the village, where they found a hole in the wall. Jump cut to them standing in a field when Atticus' dad climbed out of the ground.

I know we don't need to see all the detail, but it felt very disjointed.

Just had a quick flick through the episode, yes those two scenes did feel a bit rushed, like there was some missing footage or something.

EDIT: Or maybe it was edited down for some reason, episode 1 - 1h10m, episode 2 - 1h, episode 3 1h 10min
