Flashmans inspiration?

The "royal flash " movie is on channel 328 at 1.30 am on Thursday morning , no doubt where a certain someone on here took his name from .
It's an old movie but funny for its time , I remember seeing it at the pictures when I was a boy !
I'm not suffering insomnia by the way , during lockdown I got used to browsing the free movie channels for hidden gems to record .

Tom Browns schooldays was on Talking Pictures last Sunday. To be honest the little oik deserved all the bullying he got. I was firmly on Flashmans side in this respect...

According to George MacDonald Fraser the Flashman of John Brown's schooldays was based on a real character. Fraser even had a strong suspicion as to who the real Flashman was.

But whenever I read the Flashman books now I always visualise Flashman as Rick Mayall's Flasheart from Blackadder. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
