It seems the new Channel 4 lunchtime show from Steph McGovern had zero viewers at one stage...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/stephs-packed-...

It shows how much viewing habits have changed in recent times (many more channels, online streams, Sky+ etc) that anything on one of the major terrestrial channels doesn't have tens/hundreds of thousands of viewers at any one time.

(Bargain Hunt is, of course, what all sensible people watch at lunchtime)

I hadn't noticed she'd left the BBC.

Worth mentioning it's not actually zero viewers. Viewing figures are compiled via a survey of around 5000 households, so it just means none of those 5000 households were watching it on that specific day at that specific time. Had just one of those viewers tuned in that would have been extrapolated out and you'd end up with an official figure in the many, many thousands.

WFH with the telly on in the background and was unfortunate enough to catch about 10 minutes of this dross

Frankly I'm not surprised

I’ve not seen the Steph McGovern show, and I have zero desire to watch it, but I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than watch Bargain Hunt.
I reserve red hot needles for Homes under the Hammer, Wanted Down Under, Escape to the Country, or any cooking show.

It's comedy gold though.

Contestants: Spend £200 on a piece of junk

Auctioneer: "I'm afraid it is only worth £100"

Bidders: Sold for £20

Contestants: redface

(To be fair, I usually just fast-forward to the appraisal and bidding big at the end (unless Christina Trevanion is on))

ha ha

Not just me then. She is lovely.

I like bargain hunt but only the last 10 mins.

And as for "escape to the country" it annoys me that all these idiots think that the countryside is a playground when many of us make our living here then struggle to compete to buy houses because of these idiots

Indeed TV ratings have always been highly suggestive rather than in any way purporting to be accurate.

It works tother way round, C4 claiming 10 million viewers for Bake Off is merely an educated stab in the
dark extrapolated from a small sample of " average" families who do nowt but watch TV all day.

They always just want house 1, with house 2's garden in house 3's location but don't have the extra million required for such.

I don't tend to watch terrestrial telly, let alone in the middle of the day.

What shocks me more is that bookies are taking punts on some dreary dross like this being axed. Who's making these bets??

How are the mighty fallen, one minute I’m rubbishing the show, next minute I’m Googling Christina Trevanion.
She’s not my style, but she’s not unattractive.

I suspected the show would banal and irritating, totally inline with the ridiculous advert C4 had been running.

But zero viewers - Jeez, it must be even worse than I imagined..

She never struck me as the sharpest tool in the box at BBC Breakfast. I imagine her lunchtime show will be like a solo version of Loose Women. Another programme I'd never watch. Simply because it plays on the 'aren't all men stupid?' mantra.

Couldn't stand the woman on BBC so maybe karma that her over hyped show is bombing. Still she can still count the massive payout before she needs to hit the dole queue. She always strikes me as trying too hard to be something she isn't.
