On BBC2 now.

Scenery is great and it's been funny so far.

No idea what happened to the predictive text on the title. Can a mod change it please?

Enjoying this. One of the places in Scotland I must get to. Been to Orkney and Shetland many times but never the Western Isles or Hebrides.

Do, it's every bit as lovely as it looks (albeit I would rather go to Mull than Skye, but Harris and Lewis are truly special)

... as is that beach, which still heads my personal list of best beaches in the world.

I thought that was really good. Sweeny bounced off Romesh with his droll humour.

If you've got a spare hour add this to catch up.

Off topic but just caught up with the Rob and Romesh vs Cricket episode.

Doesn't appear to be a thread for that so here goes.

Barmy Army "You full kit wkers" rofl

And I thought the Spitting Impala Poo was a windup by the safari guide and tracker, but no it's an actual Afrikaaner sport. Are we allowed to say Afrikaaner these days.

Plus in the Test match commentary box. "So which of us two is the provide the colour?" Looks at Romesh.

Rob Beckett's somewhat annoying, to say the least.

The fondling of the sheep was a particular highlight.

I loved the show. My summary is basically what was said at the end. That it was strange to see how different a place could be when it was still in the UK. I also liked that the guide admitted that what he really wanted was an impossible compromise between showing how great things were where he lived without then spoiling it.

I often (pre-COVID-19) would go up west coast for long weekend/ week breaks and I know now what music I’ll be downloading for the journey!

Seen some of Romesh’s previous output, found it a bit hit or miss. Put away your preconceptions, this is well worth watching. Both amusing and thought provoking.

I think Romesh is superb, I have seen quite a lot of his stuff and this was an interesting show. I couldn't help noticing how similar people from Anglesey and the North West of Scotland are, even the accent is similar. Both areas of the UK do come across as foreign to British people from elsewhere.

I love the show Romesh did about Albania in the same series several years ago. He was paired with a slightly giddy Albanian women as a guide and interpreter. At one point she was laughing hysterically at how funny he looked in the snow, he is very darked skinned and quite grumpy in demeanour. He makes the point that Albania has little or no black population and accepted that there was no racial malice in what she was laughing about.

this. - that episode for me was the high of his shows.

i found i missed a beat with this ep. perhaps its because ive lived and visitied many times that area of scotland for a while and didnt find any of it new.

He's deadpan humour was still great though.

Considering he has made a successful career out of being a comedian, the answer is obviously yes.

Enjoyed that.

He's been a bit over-exposed and done some quite rubbish stuff (remember Judge Romesh?), but that was decent, funny and interesting, smile
