I wish somebody would produce a documentary on the proper use of the apostrophe and how it interacts with the possessive case smile

But to answer the question: 'don't f**k with cats' still haunts me, months after watching it.

Netflix

Fire in Paradise - tale of the 2018 California fires and the town of Paradise,CA

Last Breath - commercial deep sea diver finds himself in serious trouble.

Challenger - The Final Flight

Icarus - One of the finest sports documentaries I've ever seen. Starts as a research piece on doping and how it affect performance and turns into an international scandal of Olympic proportions.

The Dawn Wall - Climbing epic in Yosemite

A Life of Speed - about Fangio

Tiger King / Making A Murderer - Both highly hyped documentary series. Both just fantastic to get stuck into.

Charged - not on Netflix at the mo but watch out for it. Amazing survival story of a man who touched a live exposed mains electricity cable while out in the backwoods. Loses a hand, some of his ribs and muscles and is badly damaged elsewhere but makes it through and is an amazing person.

Two suggestions :

The “Fog of War” about Robert McNamara. A key figure in US military thinking and politics - a very significant individual and a well made documentary. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fog_of_War

Also the Vietnam documentary series. A real eye opener for me and one of the best documentary series I’ve ever watched. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b096k7q7/episodes...

'A Perfect Crime' on Netflix. On the subject of German reunification and the sell off of the East German state's assets and who assassinated the chap heading the department doing so. Interesting to see how many East German's weren't happy with reunification.

The World At War assuming you haven't already seen it. A long docuseries produced in the early 70's IIRC with many excellent first-hand accounts.

My recommendation is sadhill unearthed about a group of friends who discover the original cemetery where the famous good the bad and the ugly scene was shot, some cracking surprises and fabulous stories told by the crew and cast.

I found "The Day California Burned" really fascinating, and it's been repeated recently. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0009mgd

I'm fairly sure there was one on about the eruption at Mount St Helens that was similarly interesting, but I don't recall the title of it.

The Battle of Chernobyl

https://youtu.be/SPuL2o-aKpo

Documentary on the disaster. First watched this as a warm up on our way to spend some time there. Not seen anything else as good on the subject.

Einsatzgruppen - nazi death squads.

Netflix.

Absolutely harrowing but fascinating series about the nazi attempt to exterminate the Jews.
I learnt an awful lot that was never taught at school.
A tough watch but one I recommend.

Great response!
Vietnam, good recommendation. Actually seen the series on Iplayer. Also saw a series on Sky which was also very good.
Storyville - Not been on there for a while, will check it out.
The world at war. The definitive war documentary in my option. Of an age but still brilliant.
On the list are
Fog of war
A perfect crime
Chernobyl & Einsatzgruppen.

Watched another James Cracknell today. Race across America.

Ta very much.

Icarus and Making a Murderer as already mentioned on here.

The pharmacist - New Orleans pharmacist exposes the abuse of Oxycontin in New Orleans. The guy is one of the most tenacious people I've ever seen.

My Octopus Teacher - Brilliant documentary about 1 guys friendship with an Octopus.

The Staircase - Similar in some ways to Making a Murderer, but it follows a wealthy guy over a number of years while the murder of his wife in his house while they were both home is investigated.

Abducted in Plain Sight - Quite simply one of the most incredulous documentaries i have ever seen. Starts off mad and just gets madder!

The White Helmets - A group of volunteers in Syria acting as first responders during the bombing of the city. A really really moving documentary.

The Great Hack - an insight in to how Cambridge Analytical steered the likes of Brexit and the first Trump election in certain directions. Very insightful.

60 Days In. - Civilians put in real prisons in America undercover.

If you can find the whole 8 hour OJ one that is amazing, might seem crazy but if bloody flew by!

The Vietnam one is superb, as is the Iraq one recently, sorry for now knowing titles.

Some of the Storyville stuff is great, some of it real garbage.
