Just watched 5 minutes of this and he comes across as the most unfunny, sarcastic & odious bellend imaginable. If we’re lucky they’ll test the ‘will it fly’ part by pushing it off Beachy head with him in it, with any luck they’ll have got their sums wrong.

I didn't watch it purely because of him presenting it. I'm sure someone like Edd China or Ant Anstead would have made a much better job, although probably not the headline name they wanted.

Guy Martin was unavailable, as he was still facing his biggest challenge yet.

Going to the shops to buy milk for his tea.

He's a snide tt. My sister works for C4 and has met loads of big names. She says he's the most arrogant 'celeb' she's come across.

Guy Martin or David Walliams ? GM has Aspergers which explains some of his "arrogance", but my sister and ex-brother in law used to race at the TT and were never impressed by his behaviour.

Likewise, exactly. How he has any currency I just don't know.

I imagine it may have been quite an interesting way to pass a bank holiday hour if someone else had presented it.

Just watching this on +1, I'm finding it a difficult watch. Other than "little Britain" I've not really seen anything in which he's appeared. He really is coming across very poorly indeed. Seems unpleasant, very snide, arrogant, condescending & sarcastic whilst contributing very little.

It wasn't the best set up of having David Walliams commissioning a bloke who didn't really know what he was doing to build a flying car. Whilst Walliams came across as a prize tt, he did have a point about the builder's ability (albeit I'm sure it was edited to look worse).

Still, had some nice footage of Alan Mann Racing.

We thought exactly the same. Walliams ruined the programme with his supercilious attitude and snide remarks; hopefully it will be his last foray into presenting.

It would have been the perfect project for James May.

And that's the nice 'TV' version. The real version is worse.

It’s interesting to read different views on him, I quite like him tbh. I think though it’s because of some of the amazing things he’s done like his swimming challenges and just seeing him doing the odd documentary etc. When he’s rude about the car in the program I assumed it was all part of the act and his tv persona.

I never really got into little Britain.

I view him a bit like clarkson or James May where I maybe don’t like their core work - little Britain/top gear/grand tour etc but enjoy some of their other work much more.

Interesting that so many people that have met him on here don’t like him though.

Why choose a persona that makes you look like a complete ahole in front of the whole country? Especially on a childrens programme...

He's a smug wker who's nowhere near as clever as he thinks he is.

Matt Lucas was the brains and driving force behind Little Britain.

Looks like he insisted on being chauffeur driven throughout the programme too. rolleyes

I personally didn’t find him like that on the show myself. hehe

I thought he was just pretending to be a bit disapproving of the car as it was being built as a laugh, which the engineers etc all seemed to be in on and not upset at all.

I actually thought he came across OK and shared enthusiasm for the original movie and connected well with the kids etc. Everyone’s different obviously.

I thought his style was totally at odds with what should have been some harmless and enjoyable family entertainment.

Personally think it was all staged in terms of the “car” being overweight and changing the design radically mid-build. Even with my limited understanding of flight it was pretty obvious the original design with inboard propellors underneath the car would have been ridiculously unstable. Maybe Walliams was playing along with that but he still came across like a tt,

Oh dear, I guess he pitched this idea and c4 bit because he writes childrens books or something.
I bet they are full of grotesque characters drawn from his own mind lol.

Sounds like an accurate portrait, then.
