Do you ever notice hosts/presenters continually using one or two particular words or phrases and find it really annoying ......

Zoe Ball on Radio 2 thinks everything is "phenomenal" ...... practically used in every other sentence!
"What a phenomenal tune/song/person/story/thing"

Why does the answer to every question have to begin with, "So,"? Over the last year it has become all pervasive, especially when (alleged) experts are being interviewed.

And on a similar theme, 'decimate'. Currently used to imply significant or catastrophic effects, especially Covid related. However, it actually means a 1 in 10 reduction and so not what was meant by the reporter.
Why has 'optics' become prevalent? What was wrong with, 'view'?

Motsi Mabuse on Strictly starts every sentence with "I just love......" and don't get me started on Claudia Winkleman with "thank you soooooo much"!!!

Weather presenters and 'From the word go'. I've been up very early nearly all my working life. There is no word go.

"That's an incredibly important question", or synonyms of that, especially when half the time it's a question that's already been answered, or has an obvious answer if you'd just been listening a bit earlier.

Mega - On EVERY motorsport broadcast, worst offenders are BTCC and F1 though.

Mega lap, he was mega in qualifying, so and so corner is mega.

I hate it.

She also overuses the word “gorgeous”.

“Hello gorgeous listeners”
“What a gorgeous song”
“Have a gorgeous weekend”

"Amount of times" instead of "number of times"

People pluralising singular nouns "The Liverpools, Tottenhams and Chelseas of the league will take this Brighton team apart"

Steve Jones - the Channel 4 F1 presenter ........... every time there's an ad break ..... "catch you on the other side"

He also used to say common terry instead of commentary, a subtle but never the less annoying difference - but I think someone had a word with him and he changed it.

This one is interesting, because to an increasing proportion of the population, it doesn't mean anything.

Which probably explains why "Off the hook" has, in recent years, come to mean 'brilliant', 'fun' or 'fantastic'

"Last night's party was off the hook! Innit."
