Anyone else having problems with itv player? Watching it on the TV (not through the app) and it's buffering (and definitely not playing) once it gets to the end of the adverts (not the beginning of them sadly). V frustrating. Don't use it often (at all actually) so it's the first time I've come across this issue. Help!

Without being a knob, it’s not been ITV Player for 5 years, it’s ITV Hub .. so do you have the most up to date app installed? Though I confess I’m confused by “Watching it on the TV (not through the app)” smile

If so, then have you done a reset / restart?

And then some people have success with reconfiguring their settings, to basically accept all the ‘data sharing’ tick boxes.

We have exactly the same problem, the same with More4 but iPlayer does work.

Brand new TV and only tried in the last couple of weeks to access them. Worked no problem on the old TV.

This is why I have a teeny weeny PC tucked behind my TV with a small bluetooth keyboard and trackball.

TV apps are pants.

Same thing happens to us. Not all the time, but regularly. We watch very little TV and certainly never watch live TV, and when we do it's usually BBC iPlayer. So considering how little ITV hub we watch the the failure rate is really high. What really irritates me is that there appears never to be a problem streaming the adverts, the problem starts at the end of the commercial break so it clearly isn't a bandwidth or connectivity issue. We usually give up after a couple of minutes, close the programme and start it again. The ITV hub continues to take the piss by giving us another 3 or 4 commercials to watch. It can easily be 8-10 minutes to get back on track which is why we try and avoid ITV hub.

We don't have problems with BBC iPlayer or channel 5's My5.

I get it sometimes, I just assume in these days of targeted ads it can't find a suitable advert to show so just sits and thinks for 30 seconds instead.

We also suffer this issue but have found that briefly pressing rewind then play gives it a kick start and it carries on as normal at the end of the break.

Thanks for all the responses chaps and sorry to read about others having the same issues.

In the original post I was simply trying to explain the issue takes place when watching the TV rather than a pc or tablet or phone.

I'll check the firmware status and when it freezes (the row of dots of death, as it were) we can't do anything in terms of rewinding - we can exit to the home are but not go backwards within the programme).
