Anybody remember this or like it?

Its my favourite piece of TV Drama, especially 'Yossers Story'

I'm Yosser Hughes, I can lay bricks.

Wasn't it a one off 'Play of the Day' or something like that.

Never sure if Yosser was always a violent, monosyllabic nutjob even before he was unemployed.

Powerful drama, if a tad overwrought.

Yosser was actually having a mental breakdown.

The title sequences where a ratty old transit is driven south past the Albert docks, filmed from.a helicopter, shows an amazing history of Liverpool.

40 years ago the area that is now a tourist mecca, and shopping paradise was just a derelict landscape.

Alan Bleasdale wrote some really powerful stuff, the series divided my family who all come from Liverpool. I was a student in London when it aired and I remember my aunt hated it, she felt it misrepresented Liverpool and described it as a Labour Party broadcast!

This was at a time when Thatcher was prepared to throw Liverpool under the proverbial bus, they just didn’t know what to do with the city, the ‘garden project’ was the solution!

Wonderful, sad, funny series. The one where Chrissie kills all his geese, ferrets and ducks always brings me to tears...
