In these dark days my mind turns to imagining what it would be like to transpose modern shows to the golden age of TV.

Like who would have appeared in the 1971 season of Strictly.

Obviously the guvnor Lionel Blair,
Una Stubbs
Maybe Jim Dale
Michael Crawford
Hylda Baker as the hopeless but loveable buffton tuffton
The lovely Hayley Mills
Bobby Moore
Kenny Lynch
Wild Card Jack Wild

Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall biggrin

Seriously though maybe ,Eric Or Ernie, LIttle and Large Des O Connor, another buffoon type could be Charlie Drake

I don't want to cause an disagreement, but, Pandemic related delays aside, we've likely been enjoying the golden age of television for the last decade or more, and as Cinema continues to fall from grace (I hope it's a trend that can be reversed post-Covid)

Since HBO showed "Blockbuster TV" (an oxymoron I know) could work in the early 2000s, TV producers have been able to get the budget and talent previously reversed for the Film Industry to make great TV, there's still a lot of toss about, but the best stuff is better than it ever has been.
