Rip Off Britain
Discussion
Just watching this now and the subject of 'spray foam insulation' is on, an older couple paid around £7.5k to have their roof sprayed with the foam around 3 years ago, they have decided to sell but the buyers have been refused a mortgage due to the property having spray foam installed as the survey person valued the property at £0 because of it, home owners have now paid £3.5k to have it all removed
I watched this programme as well. What I find disappointing is that they say they resolve people’s issues, when in fact the programme raises more questions than answers, eg the spray foam item and the motor home scam, the viewer was left in the dark as to the outcome, if indeed it were ever resolved. “We will follow this story closely “ or similar comments, doesn’t make satisfactory viewing. In the spray foam insulation story, why wasn’t the original surveyor who presumably certified the house worthless be questioned or the Professional Body to whom he would be affiliated? Rip Off Britain, (I hate that title!) very rarely get to the bottom of the issue, but pad out the programme with emotional back stories and whaffle. Some good friends of mine were featured a few years ago regarding a Bank fraud, but the exposure of their story did nothing to bring satisfactory closure.

Nice avoiding speach by the director of the motor home scam....'most people will have paid with their credit card so they should put a claim in to them!'

So what's the issue with the spray foam? I just had a quick google and there are lots of local outfits offering it, is it a case of it's ok if it's done right?nre said:

I think it was due to lack of ventilation and that if there were wooden joists, condensation etc. could rot the timber and bring the roof down.condor said:

The motor home scam was the first time I've heard of a chattel mortgage. I'm still unsure who has the right to legally own the motor home. The investor or the guy who bought it and has the logbook in his name ( I'm assuming he has, not sure if that was mentioned).
If the investor was indeed the original owner and it was sold on his behalf, by the company, unless they had a legal contract to do this, then the investor still owns it. You can't sell something that doesn't belong to you. The V5 is not proof of ownership either, just proof of keeper.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
