This was broadcast on BBC Scotland on Monday night and now available on iPlayer for 12 months. I believe it may have been available on Netflix and other channels previously.
It tells the story an an assassination attempt on Pablo Escobar by a group of mercenaries using a combination of actual camera footage, reconstruction and interviews with three of the assassins. The documentary centres around the story of Peter McAleese, an ex-Glasgow hard man, Special Forces soldier and mercenary in Angola. I found the story compelling and the interview with McAleese is interesting and thought-provoking. I thought it was brilliant and well worth a watch.
If you’ve got a spare 90 minutes, I recommend you find it on iPlayer and give it a go.

The Two Escobars on iPlayer is also worth watching. To be found in the Storyville series.

I enjoyed Killing Escobar. Peter McAleese is certainty an interesting character, as was the guy who seemed happy to admit to being an arms dealer.

The US attitude towards the mission was amusing too. If they succeed, great, if they don’t, it’s no skin off our noses, so just leave them to it.
