Watched the first program last night. Very interesting and surprised at the amount of acess they got.
I've never really though about it before but (if true) there were some interesting bits.
- Pretty much only the captain knows where the planned route is
- The launch orders are hand carried (always in view to avoid switching) from where they are printed to the control room
- Only the captain cade confirm the decode with his "black book" (which had to stay off camera)
Well worth 60mins

I thought pretty much the same. Very surprised pretty much only the captain knows where they are going, it’s not like the crew can communicate with the outside world when they are submerged.I've never really though about it before but (if true) there were some interesting bits.

I was also surprised they were allowed anywhere near the missile and torpedo tubes.
Also terrifying how much power one boat carries. If that’s what one of ours carries beggars belief what a US or Russian, and problem at Chinese boat carriers these days…

Thanks, I'll have another look later, I'm on Virgin if it makes a difference, may be able to find it on the Channel5 On demand thing, didn't realise it was last year, though as the OP was so recent it was this week! DOH!
